Final Words

1 Timothy 6:11–21 (NKJV)

1. (V11) The man or women of God

Paul ordering Timothy to flee the proud arguments of those who misuse God’s Word and who suppose that we should follow God just for what we can get out of it.

a) Flee these things

Disputes and arguments

Envy and strife

Harmful lusts

The love of money

b) Pursue (These qualities describe a man of God)

righteousness

Godliness

Faith

Love

Patience

Gentleness

Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

c) Its a call to believers to walk out their faith in a way that is honoring to the Lord

2. (V12) Fight the good fight

a) Lay hold / Grab firmly, just make sure its yours

b) You confessed Christ in front of many

Remember people are watching you, live out your faith in front of all

c) How can I fight the good fight?

By living as an example and obedient as a witness for Christ

Baptism / Good confession in the presence of many witnesses

Remember your commitment to follow Christ that you made in front of all those witnesses

3. (V13) In sight of God and before Christ

a) Paul points out almighty God, who sees it all, is watching and is a witness

b) Jesus confesses He is God

John 18:37 “Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.””

3. (V14) Keep this commandment with out spot, blameless until the Lord comes back

a) Keep the commandment and stay free of the stain of sin

Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

4. (V15) He will manifest in His own time

(Potentate meaning) ”mighty one," from dunamai, "to be able"): A person who possesses great power and authority.
