Acts 10:9–16 NKJV
9 The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. 10 Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance 11 and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. 12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. 13 And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” 14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” 15 And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.” 16 This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Genesis 22:18 NKJV
18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”
Colossians 3:11 NKJV
11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

Matthew 28:18–20 NKJV
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

1. The gospel of Jesus Christ is at the core of what we are called to do.

Matthew 28:18–19 NKJV
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
When we say the core of what we do we mean the heart, the very inner most part of what we trying to accomplish.
the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and His forgiveness, is our restoration.
1 Peter 5:10 NKJV
10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
When we (the members of Church on the Rock, Abilene) were in the far country, we where in the far country we where in bondage.
In the process of coming out of bondage, we discovered that we where separated from God.
When we took steps toward God He began to restore us.
Amos 9:14 NKJV
14 I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.

2. Gods restoration is not just for people who are like us.

Acts 10:9 NKJV
9 The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.
“The Sixth Hour” is about noon.
The Apostle Peter goes up on the roof to pray about noon time.
As I have been meditating on this verse and thinking about all manner of things, I have been thinking about the likelihood that the Apostle was hungry in his body. I have been thinking about how The Lord used that physical hunger to express a spiritual truth.
in the introduction of this sermon I quoted some verses that prove that what God is about to tell Peter to do is not a “New thing” it is just the season of application.
Acts 10:10 NKJV
10 Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance

What natural desires is the Lord using to wake up a spiritual truth in your life?

2. Peter, Kill and eat.

The Lord is making Peter uncomfortable here because He is calling peter to do something that seems wrong to him.
what God is calling Him to do goes against peters culture but not God’s will.
we have to be careful that we don't assume that our cultural preferences are Gods will.
God may (will) use your testimony outside your cultural preference.

3. Part of maturity is realizing that God will ask you to do something in the right season.

Acts 10:17–23 NKJV
17 Now while Peter wondered within himself what this vision which he had seen meant, behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate. 18 And they called and asked whether Simon, whose surname was Peter, was lodging there. 19 While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are seeking you. 20 Arise therefore, go down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.” 21 Then Peter went down to the men who had been sent to him from Cornelius, and said, “Yes, I am he whom you seek. For what reason have you come?” 22 And they said, “Cornelius the centurion, a just man, one who fears God and has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was divinely instructed by a holy angel to summon you to his house, and to hear words from you.” 23 Then he invited them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter went away with them, and some brethren from Joppa accompanied him.
