Did Jesus Claim He would Return?

King James Version (Chapter 14)

14 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Jesus definitely told His disciples He would return for them when He finishes their and our mansions or dwelling place. Jesus told them no man knows the time or hour, but to be watchful so you will not be unprepared when He comes.

How will Jesus return?Jesus’ return will be in two parts.

First coming will be the Rapture.

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore lcomfort one another with these words.

What are the signs of the Rapture?

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, eproud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Second Coming: King of King

He will return at the end of the 7 year tribulation.

Revelation 19:11 (KJV 1900)

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

Zechariah in the OT prophespied Jesus second coming as King.

Zechariah 14:4 (KJV 1900)

And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives,

Which is before Jerusalem on the east,

And the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west,

And there shall be a very great valley;

Luke record in Acts, the angel told the disciples this same Jesus would return the same way you saw him ascend into heaven on Mt. Olive.

What Will Happen Next?

King Jesus will usher in His 1000 year reign. He will destroy His enemies and set up His Kingdom.

Zechariah 14:9 (KJV 1900)

And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: In that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

Revelation 19:15–16 KJV 1900

And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

Conclusion

We can be comforted knowing that those who practices evil in this world will be held accountable. Our Savior who 2000+year rode into Jerusalem on a donkey to die for us will one day ride on a white horse into Jerusalem.
