Taste and See that God is Good
Taste and See that God is Good
Last night after we had all worked hard getting Leah moved back to NC, we decided to have Pizza Hut for dinner. Tammy ordered our Pizza, some wings, and Alex wanted Pasta. So after nearly 1:45 minutes they delivered our food and it was hot. I was working on some stuff with U haul and was on the phone when they started eating. I got put on hold again, but I could smell those wings in the kitchen. Boy did they smell good too. in fact they smelled so good I got up took the phone with me and went in the Kitchen and fixed me a plate 1 slice of pizza and three wings. I bit into those wings and they tasted just as good as they smelled. Satisfied boy was I satisfied.
21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
Point 1
Being in Church should never replace Being the Church
Why is it so important that we never lose focus of this Point.
If we lose sight of being the Church and start focusing on being in the Church then we are failing to carry the Spirit of God with us and allowing Him to prompt us when the crucial moment arises for us to speak to someone about what God has done for us. Remember when we speak of God there is Evidence all around us. God created the trees and the shrubs to have green leaves. Why to conduct the process of photosynthesis producing oxygen so we can breath clean air. Plants convert water, carbon dioxide, and minerals into oxygen. Hey guess what as you breath your body produces about 2.3 lbs of carbon dioxide per day which can again be converted back into oxygen.
Be instant in season and out of Season.
2. The word of God should be like an organism it infects everything it reaches. A infectious bacteria gets into every crack and crevous of the body it can find. A small tear in the skin a scratch, a cut, a bug bite, any tiny tiny opening it enters the body. The word of God is more infectious than any infectious bad bacteria. Gods word penetrates the heart and forever changes the heart and soul of a person. We must always be prepared to share the word of GOD.
Community of Believers
3. we are a community! A community that aligns our values with the teachings of Jesus who calls us to love God with all of our being, and to love others as ourselves!!
The values of God are our Values if he said it is Good then we should say it is Good. If he says it is Evil than it is Evil. We are not here for a debate with God on morals or anyone else Right is Right and Wrong is Wrong.
But Preacher its in the old Testament we are not under the Law. Your right but Gods word says in the New Testament.
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Point 2
TRANSFORMATION requires your PARTICIPATION.
We should never gather on Sundays to brag about what we have seen this week, rather we should get together to hear his word to prepare us for the next week. How do we prepare for the next week.
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
We are charged here in John 14 to go and do greater works than he did. God has not withheld anything from us. We limit ourselves or we limit God by how we pray and speak. The tongue is a powerful thing and we need to watch what and how we say things.
We should participate in our own growth. We participate in our own growth by being present on Sunday morning for Sunday School, Wednesday Night Bible Study, Bible Classes, and Reading and being prayful about our readings.
Point 3
Playing it Safe with your Faith
I have a great thought for this topic. Playing it safe with your Faith is like this:
If you know anything about baseball you can not win the game unless your score at least 1 run. So no matter what I am going to score 1 run in every game and give my team a chance to at least win. Some people tell me not every team can score a run in every game. I don’t believe this to be a true statement. One of my first batters in an inning is going to bunt and get himself on, within the next pitch or two he is going to steal second base. Unless the batter has two strikes the next pitch my batter will be bunting and the runner will be going to third. this sets up a perfect scenario. Runner on third and maybe 1 out. At this point all I need out of the next two batters is one of four things. A base hit, a deep fly ball to the out field, a bloop single, or a suicide squeeze bunt scoring the run either way. You see you must stretch your faith and be will to score that run at any cost.
“Faith without being Faithful is like Smelling a delicious aroma but never tasting the food.
1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2 For by it the men of old gained approval. 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible. 4 By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous, God testifying about his gifts, and through faith, though he is dead, he still speaks. 5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; and he was not found because God took him up; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
