What is your favorite acvivity?
Some people like to play sports. Others like music. Some people enjoy painting, or cooking. Some of you like fishing or hunting. Maybe you are into books, or making your own movies. Maybe you like video games. or just watching youtube. For me I like fishing. I like to walk around the lake casting out my lures and trying to get as many fish into my basket as possible.
Our verse of the day is Col. 3.17 and verse 23
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
Whatever you do...
Whatever you do...
In Word - What you say. How you talk.
In Deed - In your actions
Everything you do Everywhere you do it
Do it For Jesus.
Do it For Jesus.
This speaks back to what we talked about two weeks ago.
Do any of you remember the trailman motto? WALK WORTHY
Last time we talked about how we are to live our lives worthy of Jesus. Here we take that one step further and see that in order to walk worthy of Jesus we must walk/ work for Jesus.
The goal of your life has to be to honor Jesus in all your life, not just some of it. Because if you don’t set that as a goal you wont do it by accident.
Do it in thanks to Jesus.
Do it in thanks to Jesus.
I’m sure there are some things that you have to do that you dislike. Some of you might not like homework from school, or doing the dishes. But we have to remember that even those things we don’t like are a gift from God. If you hate doing the dishes remember to give God thanks for the meal you got to eat. If you don’t like running laps at practice, remember to thank God that your on the team. As you grow up, if you don’t like you boss, be thankful for your job.
Our actions and our words together prove if you are truly thankful.
Do it to the best of your ablility.
Do it to the best of your ablility.
Finally the main thing to rememebr. If you are trying to Walk Worthy in your actions and deeds, then whatever you do, do it to the best of your ability for God’s Glory. That neither means it will always be easy, nor that you will always succeed. But it does mean that we put our best effort into it. We hold up our heads and as Paul said in verse 23 we work Heartily. We do our best even when everyone else is taking the easy way out. When everyone else is complaining and grumbling we keep our tounge. When its going well we thank God. When its going hard, we praise God. In everything we do we do our best and seek to honor God.
