Do you know what time it is?
Video
None of us can tell time.
Matthew 24:36–42 NASB95
36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. 37 “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38 “For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 “Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. 41 “Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left. 42 “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.
Back to 2 Peter
2 Peter 3:3–9 NASB95
3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” 5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, 6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. 7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

We are in the last days

1 Peter 4:7 NASB95
7 The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer.
1 John 2:18 NASB95
18 Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour.
What happens in the last days:
2 Timothy 3:1–5 NASB95
1 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.
Paul says these are characteristics of people in the last days, but uses the present tense verb to avoid these people.
1 Timothy 4:1 NASB95
1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,
Our text this morning.
2 Peter 3:3–4 NASB95
3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”
I don’t mind reading bible critics. I’m not afraid of their arguments.
Biggest critique was the flood story and claimed that the bible copied the story from other ancient belief systems.
Gilgamesh
The goal of this page is not to say God is evil or bad. The point is to show that he is imaginary, created by humans, and to use the blatant reproductions, inconsistencies, and immoral teachings of the Bible to show that the Bible is false, and was written by man. God is not at fault here; there is no reason to believe anything like God exists at all. We simply made it all up because 1) we are afraid of death and, 2) we can use such beliefs to control people.
Mockers will mock.
Nearly every ancient culture has a belief of a major flood…..
They copied each other.
There was a world wide flood. and every culture that exists are descendants from the same Eight people.
The earth was formed out of water and by water and it was through water the world was destroyed.
2 Peter 3:7 NASB95
7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
Isaiah 66:15 NASB95
15 For behold, the Lord will come in fire And His chariots like the whirlwind, To render His anger with fury, And His rebuke with flames of fire.
Daniel 7:9 NASB95
9 “I kept looking Until thrones were set up, And the Ancient of Days took His seat; His vesture was like white snow And the hair of His head like pure wool. His throne was ablaze with flames, Its wheels were a burning fire.
Hebrews 12:29 NASB95
29 for our God is a consuming fire.

Be ready

2 Peter 3:8 NASB95
8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.
It’ only been a weekend since Christ rose from the dead.
Luke 21:36 NASB95
36 “But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
IF YOU SAY YOUR ARE A BELIEVER:
James 1:27 NASB95
27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
2 Timothy 2:4 NASB95
4 No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.
If you have are a believer, but have become stained and entangled.
I have no words to comfort you.
John 10:28 NASB95
28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
What will you say?
Romans 14:11–12 NASB95
11 For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall give praise to God.” 12 So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.
2 Corinthians 5:10 NASB95
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
Matthew 7:22–23 NASB95
22 “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’

God is patient

2 Peter 3:9 NASB95
9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
