Without God we can do Nothing
Without God we can do Nothing
Special attention needs to be given Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Because this is the outline of the entire Book of Acts, and it is the means through which God is going to build His people, and His kingdom
The Disciples ask Acts: 1:6
So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”
Jesus was teaching about the Kingdom to the Disciples-
He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.
Jesus is teaching them about the Kingdom of God- They are about to experience the Kingdom of God.
So many times we are looking ahead for what God is going to do in the future , that We miss what He wants to do now!
Kids do this- When I get older I am gonna …..
Adults dot his to- Longing for the future promise we miss the experience of the kingdom now
It is n ot for us to know the times or the seasons that God has fixed, But it is our time to experience the power of the Holy Spirit and make disciples of Jesus
This is the Kingdom Work
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
At the end of Luke Jesus tells the disciples
And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
What is the Power?
What is the Power?
The Power is what Jesus Operated in
And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a report about him went out through all the surrounding country.
We need to understand that Jesus has called us His body-
He moves through us
This is seen in the gifts of the Spirit
If I say, “I will not mention him,
or speak any more in his name,”
there is in my heart as it were a burning fire
shut up in my bones,
and I am weary with holding it in,
and I cannot.
He is the Fire of God that moves through us!
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said, “Please let there be a double portion of your spirit on me.”
The power is the Ability-
1. dunamis (δύναμις, 1411) is (a) “power, ability,” physical or moral, as residing in a person or thing; (b) “power in action,” as, e.g., when put forth in performing miracles

He is the River that flows through us
He is the River that flows through us
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ ”
Rivers Flow and the Spirit is the Water
Then he brought me back to the door of the temple, and behold, water was issuing from below the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was flowing down from below the south end of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar. Then he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around on the outside to the outer gate that faces toward the east; and behold, the water was trickling out on the south side.
Going on eastward with a measuring line in his hand, the man measured a thousand cubits, and then led me through the water, and it was ankle-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water, and it was knee-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water, and it was waist-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and it was a river that I could not pass through, for the water had risen. It was deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be passed through. And he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this?”
Then he led me back to the bank of the river. As I went back, I saw on the bank of the river very many trees on the one side and on the other. And he said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, and enters the sea; when the water flows into the sea, the water will become fresh. And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes. Fishermen will stand beside the sea. From Engedi to Eneglaim it will be a place for the spreading of nets. Its fish will be of very many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea. But its swamps and marshes will not become fresh; they are to be left for salt. And on the banks, on both sides of the river, there will grow all kinds of trees for food. Their leaves will not wither, nor their fruit fail, but they will bear fresh fruit every month, because the water for them flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.”
He is the Fire and He is the Wind!
He is the Fire and He is the Wind!
John said in Matthew 3:11
“I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Fire is powerful
for our God is a consuming fire.
The Holy Spirit… Upon
The Holy Spirit… Upon
We need to understand that Jesus is the primary example of the Work of the Holy Spirit
both within and upon us
Jesus’ life was conceived by the Holy Spirit
John 3- You must be born spiritually
The Spirit at work within Jesus brought about the fruit of Good character- Luke 2:52
And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.
The Spirit produces fruit in us - Gal 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
The Spirit came upon Jesus to bring forth a ministry of Power Luke 3:22
and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
Here He affirms that the spirit of Power will come upon the believers for ministry
We aren’t lacking- the church isn’t without the most important power that their is-
He is the Power!
He is the Power!
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence,
