“Peace be with you.”
“Let’s Pray. Father may your will be done. Jesus may your word be proclaimed. Spirit may your work be accomplished in us we pray. Amen.”

I. See No Evil.

A. Escape notice.

Mark 7:24 NASB95
24 Jesus got up and went away from there to the region of Tyre. And when He had entered a house, He wanted no one to know of it; yet He could not escape notice.
In Matthew 11 Jesus denounces the cities that did not respond in repentance and faith after having performed miracles in them, in regards to this Jesus says,
Matthew 11:21–22 NASB95
21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occurred in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 “Nevertheless I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.

B. I See you.

Mark 7:25–26 NASB95
25 But after hearing of Him, a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit immediately came and fell at His feet. 26 Now the woman was a Gentile, of the Syrophoenician race. And she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter.
1. Tyre and Sidon- Jesus enters into the territory of the gentiles, specifically that region where he claimed earlier that if they encounter miracles, they would believe and repent. At some level Jesus is proving what He said earlier is true.
2. Canaanite woman- the old enemy of Israel. This is the only reference in the New Testament referring to someone as a “Canaanite”. What follows may lead us to how Jesus treats the enemies of God.
3. Crying out- Throughout this story this Canaanite woman continually shouts out in public to Jesus. She is unashamed in her pursuit of Jesus.

C. The Bread of Heaven

Mark 7:27 NASB95
27 And He was saying to her, “Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”

1. Jesus Ministry to the Jews first and offering them the bread of Life.

Matthew 10:5–6 NASB95
5 These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them: “Do not go in the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter any city of the Samaritans; 6 but rather go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
This identifies that the ministry of Jesus and redemptive program of God was first administered to the Jews and then to the gentiles. God is essentially fulfilling the promise he gave to Abraham to bless his descendents. The Apostle Paul also confirms that salvation will go to the Jews first in Romans 1:1616 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” But also will judgement, Romans 2:99 There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek,”
John 6:48 NASB95
48 “I am the bread of life.

2. The things about dogs:

Jesus relates a proverb to the woman about feeding bread that belongs to children to dogs. The woman replies in humility agreeing and saying even dogs get some benefit from the crumbs off the table. What becomes interesting is that though Jews would refer to gentiles as “dogs”, later Paul in Phil 3:2-“2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision;” relates to those jews who reject Christ and stick with their traditions as dogs. This is a “I’m rubber and you’re glue” moment in scripture.

C. Morsel of Christ:

Mark 7:28 NASB95
28 But she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children’s crumbs.”

1. Persistent- chases after him.

Consider the parable about the widow persistent with the judge Luke 18:1-18

2. Humble- Worships at his feet.

Consider the Parable of the Table Luke 14:7-11
Mary sitting at Jesus’ feet listening.

3. Calls upon the Lord- The words that move Christ.

No sweeter words in the ears of a Savior. Romans 10:13 “13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.””

4. Confesses unworthiness- yes I am a dog.

5. Appeals for grace- dogs receive grace.

D. See no Evil.

Mark 7:29–30 NASB95
29 And He said to her, “Because of this answer go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.” 30 And going back to her home, she found the child lying on the bed, the demon having left.

II. Hear & Speak no evil.

Isaiah 35:5 NASB95
5 Then the eyes of the blind will be opened And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped.
