1169. δειλός deilós; fem. deilḗ, neut. deilón, adj. from deídō (n.f.), to fear. Timid, fearful (Matt. 8:26; Mark 4:40; Rev. 21:8; Sept.: Deut. 20:8; Judg. 7:3).

Deriv.: deilía (1167), timidity; deiliáō (1168), to be afraid.

Syn.: oligópsuchos (3642), fainthearted, with a small soul, little spirited; émphobos (1719), fearful.
