The preeminence of God

Colossians 1:15–20 NKJV
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
Preeminence- be; become; take place; be first

The image of the invisible God

“Jesus is the very stamp of God the Father.”
Jesus is God, in every way
Invisible God- Not only not able to physically be seen, but ultimately unknowable, or beyond comprehension.
If our God was able to be fully comprehended, that means that He is something we could think up ourselves and therefore not God and not worth our worship.

The firstborn over all creation

(the ancient Greek word prototokos) describes either priority in time or supremacy in rank.
Jesus’s position to the father is clear here, he is priority over all creation.

All things were created

There is no doubt that Jesus is the author of all creation. He Himself is not a created being. When we behold the wonder and the glory of the world Jesus created, we worship and honor Him all the more.

Before all things

Jesus predates creation, therefore being God Himself

All the fullness should dwell

a permanent dwelling
Jesus was, is, and will always continue to be God.

Having made peace through the blood of the cross

God made peace with humanity, not the other way around
It was His choice to come bring us a way to be with Him.

Conclusion

This is who are God is
all powerful
beyond time and space
before all things
in all things
the creator of everything
and still making a way for us to be with Him
This gives me confidence in who I worship
Due to His incomprehensible power, control, and authority over all of creation, I can have confidence in His promises for me, this is who our Lord is, he is above all things, and truly, the all powerful creator of the universe and the human soul. The Fact that this is the God that we worship, this is Who came down to our level and gave his life for us, That I have the audacity to doubt Him. This morning, I am remembering and re-realizing who my God is, and what he has already done and is willing to do in my life. Nothing is impossible with Christ!
My doubts truly start to fade when I am reminded of this
