Driving In The Car With My Neices
When we were driving we are talking about what we are going to do at the movies and how much fun its going to be
we start going over the rules
then the ask the question
Are We There Yet?
i took it personal
what i learned is that i act the ame way with God for alot of the things that im wainting for
i sometimes think there is a shorter way but if he took me that way it might hurt me.
One of the mistake we do with scriputre and we try to input or selves into scrpture and make it about us.
scripture esciplyy in the old testement has a particular audience.
yes there are something that are written exacly for us.
then why do we read it.
becuase the bible says
1 Corinthians 10:11 (NIV):
"These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come."
Romans 15:4 (NIV):
"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope."
we look at their lives and we look at their recountes and we learn lessons from their exspriences
Deut Chapyer 8
Moses is 120 led Gods chosen people out of the slavery of eypgt , the plan was to make this of about 2.5 to this new land called canan.
In this time frame God provided food for them, here may sure they were in good health , the clothes never got old.
but we quickly disccovered that after 400 years of eople ensalved in egypt the people had trama.
that trama led to disobeience, complaining and lack of dependablity on God.
In order for me to take my people into this next season of prosperity they were going to have to go through a small season of War
so instead of taking them into the promise land he decides to let the them wander in the wilderness for 40 years, until the generation of people who didnt trust God died
and the children who spent year trusting Gods provision, taking him at his word were ready to go into the land.
At this moment we see Moses teach the new generation of isrealtes what to do
You Should Remember what the lord has done
You should keep his commandments and Bless God
You Shouldnt Forget The Past
A Call to Remember and Obey
You Should Remember what the lord has done
8 “Be careful to obey all the commands I am giving you today. Then you will live and multiply, and you will enter and occupy the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors.
2 Remember how the Lord your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands. 3 Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. 4 For all these forty years your clothes didn’t wear out, and your feet didn’t blister or swell. 5 Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.
The past helps us frame the present
provided for you
He dicplines you because he loves you
he did it to teach them, that seems harsh but what they were about to encounter would have destoryed them if they didnt understaand that. it was better that i teach the parents so the parents could tell the next generation.
You should keep his commandments and Bless God
6 “So obey the commands of the Lord your God by walking in his ways and fearing him. 7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land of flowing streams and pools of water, with fountains and springs that gush out in the valleys and hills. 8 It is a land of wheat and barley; of grapevines, fig trees, and pomegranates; of olive oil and honey. 9 It is a land where food is plentiful and nothing is lacking. It is a land where iron is as common as stone, and copper is abundant in the hills. 10 When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.
Obey God and his commandents because God is bring you into this new season where you wont lack
after you have recived make sure you give thanks
too many times when we recive what he has prepared it feels like usaully our first thing to go is our gratitude
we dont pray as often when we are out of the fire, could it be that sometime God will allow us to stay in tension not because he want us there , but becuase it bring us closer to him
You Shouldnt Forget The Past
11 “But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today. 12 For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, 13 and when your flocks and herds have become very large and your silver and gold have multiplied along with everything else, be careful!
14 Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. 15 Do not forget that he led you through the great and terrifying wilderness with its poisonous snakes and scorpions, where it was so hot and dry. He gave you water from the rock! 16 He fed you with manna in the wilderness, a food unknown to your ancestors. He did this to humble you and test you for your own good. 17 He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’ 18 Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.
too often after we reach the destnation we forget that it was God that actually brought us to where we are , not ourselves not all of our hard work and connctions.
that it was god who sustained you even while he was discipling them. even while you were in tension. you wernt guiding yourself . it was him
all it it was to huble and test you, i heard it was that a faith that isnt tested cant be trusted
rememer the past , but learned from it
ever met those people who where the good old days, usally there deutional
if we look at our past as this horrble stack of events we will never learn from
look as thoses we would rathe not remember as lessons instead of burdens
19 “But I assure you of this: If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods, worshiping and bowing down to them, you will certainly be destroyed. 20 Just as the Lord has destroyed other nations in your path, you also will be destroyed if you refuse to obey the Lord your God.
Learns from the past don’t live in it.
Remind Them where we are going
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus House OC will foster a community that welcomes the outsider, equips the believer, strengthens families, and helps people find wholeness. By empowering our leaders to make a positive impact on their city for the kingdom of God, it is our hope that disciples will make other disciples, relationships will be restored, and lives will be transformed by the power of Christ.
“We exist to love people in a way that provides "evidence" that we follow Jesus“
today its too easy to say that you follow jesus but have no real evidence of it
John 15:5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
Introduction:John 15:5 is a powerful reminder of our relationship with Jesus Christ and the necessity of staying connected to Him. Jesus uses the metaphor of a vine and branches to illustrate how essential it is for us to remain in Him to live a fruitful life. Let's explore three key points from this passage.
Point 1: The Source of Life and Strength
Scripture: "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches."
Message: Jesus is the true vine, the source of all spiritual life and strength. Just as branches cannot survive or bear fruit without being connected to the vine, we cannot thrive without being connected to Christ. He is the root that sustains us, providing everything we need to grow spiritually.
Application: Evaluate the sources of your spiritual nourishment. Are you staying connected to the true vine through prayer, reading the Word, and fellowship with other believers? Recognize that Jesus is not just an accessory to your life but the very essence of it.
Point 2: The Promise of Fruitfulness
Scripture: "Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit."
Message: Remaining in Christ is the key to a fruitful life. When we abide in Him, our lives naturally produce the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Our actions, words, and attitudes reflect His character.
Application: Consider what kind of fruit your life is producing. Are you seeing evidence of Christ's character in your daily interactions? Make a commitment to remain in Jesus through consistent prayer, obedience to His commands, and openness to the Holy Spirit’s leading.
Point 3: The Reality of Dependence
Scripture: "For apart from me you can do nothing."
Message: This verse underscores our complete dependence on Christ. No matter how skilled, intelligent, or resourceful we are, without Jesus, our efforts are ultimately futile. True success and purpose come from acknowledging our need for Him in every aspect of life.
Application: Reflect on areas where you might be trying to go it alone without Jesus. Surrender those areas to Him, inviting Him to guide and empower your actions. Remember, independence from Christ leads to spiritual barrenness, but dependence on Him leads to abundant life.
Conclusion:Staying connected to Jesus, the true vine, is essential for living a fruitful, purposeful life. As branches, we are called to remain in Him, drawing our strength and sustenance from His love and grace. Let us commit to abiding in Christ daily, trusting that in Him, our lives will bear much fruit for His glory.
