The Treasure

Consider the vast field
Sower sows in a vast field
Mustard Seed is planted in the field
The Wheat and the Tares are Sown in the same field
Mixed Church? - Is there more included in the field of the Sower?
Matthew 13:44 ““The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”
Kingdom of God -
Dan 7 approach to the vast operation of the Kingdom that was presented to the Son
Daniel 7:13 ““I kept looking in the night visions, And behold, with the clouds of heaven One like a Son of Man was coming, And He came up to the Ancient of Days And was presented before Him.”
Daniel 7:14 ““And to Him was given dominion, Glory and a kingdom, That all the peoples, nations and men of every language Might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion Which will not pass away; And His kingdom is one Which will not be destroyed.”
All Dominion (heaven and Earth)
All Spatial and authoritative and Spiritual
Rule; any authority over anything else
Government, or governing authority
Sovereignty; supreme command, control, power
Ownership over all
Rule over all nature (entrusted to Man as the IoG)
Entire Order of Angels (Heavenly Hosts)
Glory
Full glory of God cannot be seen in this time
Exodus 33:18–20 “Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” And He said, “I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.” But He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!””
But it is represented: (in space that we can comprehend… kind of.)
Shekinah Glory
God’s Glory in presence passing through
Leading the Israelites (Physically and Spiritually)
Angel of the Lord
Pre incarnation appearance of God
Jesus
and it is displayed to us:
Psalm 19:1–4 “The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their utterances to the end of the world. In them He has placed a tent for the sun,”
and it will be made manifest to us
New Jerusalem
Revelation 21:22–27 “I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed; and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it; and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”
Kingdom
That all the peoples, nations and men of every language Might serve Him.
Everlasting (Beg to everlasting)
Will not pass away nor be destroyed
Romans 8:16–17 “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.”
How does one respond to such a gift?
Matthew 4:20 “Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.” (Andrew and Simon Peter)
Matthew 4:22 “Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.” (the Zebedee Brothers)
Matthew 9:9 “As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector’s booth; and He said to him, “Follow Me!” And he got up and followed Him.”

Pearl of Great Price

Read Matthew 13:45–46 ““Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
Who is this Merchant who understands the value of the pearls?
What are these Pearls of such value?
Unconventional Interpretation...
Who really sold it all?
(Jesus) Philippians 2:6–8 “who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
Who Seeks out His pearls?
Deuteronomy 7:6–8 ““For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. “The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but because the Lord loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers, the Lord brought you out by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.”
1. Perhaps the Kingdom was never hidden
2. Perhaps you were sought, found, and hid (protected)
3. Perhaps it was only by the payment of His blood was the precious field of precious pearls gathered

A Dragnet

Visual
Dragging the net
Indiscriminately gathering all kinds of fish
Several kinds of fish in the Sea of Galilee
Fish that is good for food
Fish that is not safe to eat
Fish that is against the Mosaic Law
Fins, Scales, Shells
AGAIN, this separation Motif
The Good and the Bad
The Useful and the Not
The Productive and the Unproductive
The : Wicked and the Righteous
What we must contend with:
Will you be found amongst the Wicked or the Righteous?
How is one found righteous?
What do you consider to be Precious? What has worth? What is Worthy?
We deserve Matthew 13:50 “and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Fire?
Weeping?
Desperation?
Offered: Revelation 21:3–5 “And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.””

The Disciple’s Responsibility

Matthew 13:52 “And Jesus said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a head of a household, who brings out of his treasure things new and old.””
Understand what the treasure is
Hold it in reverence
Understand the Old considering the revelation of the New!
