Being ready at all times

Matthew 25:1–13 “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. …”
No one knows when time is up or when things can take a turn but it is our job to stay in a state of readiness
Matthew 24:42 “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
Looking at thee virgins some of them were not prepared for the delay of the bridegroom and they did not take heed to their teaching because knowing a little about Jewish culture they are the type that teach what should be done, how it should be done and when
They are very studious about there rituals
It is very important that we are very studious about the word of God and how we live it
How often does things rise up in our lives and we almost loose it?
We are not going to know what coming but we can be ready to deal with what ever shows up
David said in Psalm 121:1–2 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, Which made heaven and earth.”
Psalm 86:7 “In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: For thou wilt answer me.”
In order to have a mind to call upon him when your world is upside down we need a close relationship with him
The bible says we should do these things
1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Ephesians 5:19 “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”
Mark 9:29 “And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.”
