A Reality Check

INTRODUCTION: Invest & Invite: Last week Pastor Bronson talked about how our lives are the Good News being lived out everyday and in every space.
Family Month: Next week we begin our 4 week Family Month series, “Bless This House” Building Homes Where God Can Dwell!
So this week puts in this in-between: being a living testimony (sharing the gospel) to, building a home where the presence of God can rest.
And the thing we want to talk about today is what i believe a lot of us have either thought, currently think or will think… And that is, “Am I Even Qualified To Do This? Can I Do This? Am I The Right Person? Do I Have What It Takes?
HAVE YOU EVER: How many of you have been in a position you did not feel qualified for? -been called into rooms or meetings you had no business being in -been asked to accomplish a task that required what you didn’t have on your résumé -been given an opportunity that was beyond anything you imagined -maybe it was the day you said, “I Do” or the day you heard the doctor say, “It’s A Girl!” -maybe you’ve had to start over and all you know is, “i don’t want to end up where i was”
The reality is our lives are full of “I’m Not Qualified” moments. And i wish i can stand here today and tell you, “if you follow these 3 steps, you’ll never feel unqualified every again.” That’s just not the case.
TRANSITION: But this is what i can say… No One Has Ever Felt Unqualified Doing What They Already Know Or Have Always Done You never see anyone struggling with feeling qualified; in a position, season, or place that is familiar.
That’s because: The Feeling Of Being Unqualified Are Experienced In Seasons Of Unfamiliarity, Change, Transition, Stretching, Or Movement! The moment there is a change in what has been The moment there isn’t an answer on what to do next The moment God calls you to more… here comes the waves of doubt
Why?
1.) In Times Of Not Feeling Qualified; Our Limitation Is Evident there is an evaluation of ourselves that hadn’t been there when things were familiar. all of a sudden the flaws that we got good at hiding seem to pop out all of a sudden who we see in the mirror isn’t recognizable
Exodus 3:7–9 - God’s Promise To Egypt “The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them.”
Exodus 3:10 - God’s Command To Moses “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.””
Exodus 3:11 - Moses’ Doubt “But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?””
Moses’ struggle with his identity revealed his struggle with God’s identity.
2.) In Times Of Not Feeling Qualified; God’s Character Is Revealed
Exodus 3:12 “And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.””
God’s Presence Is What Moses Needed, More Than God Telling Moses Who He Is
God’s Saying His Sign To Know God Is True To His Promise Is By Telling Him The End Of The Story. God’s promise is bringing moses back to this same environment, but not the same Moses
Exodus 3:13 “Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?””
What Is His Name - What is the meaning/significance of your name?
Exodus 3:14 “God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ ”
I AM Who I Am - root word of Yahweh with a generation who had forgotten God’s name, the meaning. “big man upstairs, lord… God (doctor, teacher), i want you to know me (Yahweh)
Exodus 3:15
“God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.”
