The Word is A Weapon

Hebrews 4:12 AMP
For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the sbreath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.
Isaiah 55:11 NKJV
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Exposes the Heart

Psalm 119:130 NKJV
The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.

Analyzes the Heart

Psalm 119:7 NKJV
7I will praise You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments.

Judges the Heart

2 Samuel 12:5–7 NKJV
So David’s anger was greatly aroused against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As the Lord lives, the man who has done this shall surely die! And he shall restore fourfold for the lamb, because he did this thing and because he had no pity.” Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul.
The Three F's don't work
1. Facts do not convince people to change
2. Fear does not motivate people to change
3. Force does not implement lasting change

Nothing Changes the Heart and Mind but the Word of God applied by the Spirit of God

Use the 3 R's
1. Relate - relationships are the key - Change the Heart
2. Renew - change thinking - Change the Head
3. Reframe - repeat behavior - Change the Hand

Sexual Immorality

Deal with the Source

Your Mind and Heart

Mark 7:21–22 NKJV
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.

Renew Your Mind

Sexual Sin
Ephesians 4:22–24 NKJV
22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

Know that Sexual Sins Are Offensive

To Self

Matthew 15:19–20 NKJV
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

To Saints

2 Peter 2:7–8 NKJV
and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds)—
1 Corinthians 5:6 NKJV
Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?

To Savior

2 Samuel 11:27 NKJV
27 And when her mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord.

Our Responses to Sexual Sins

Remember Your Power in Christ

1 Corinthians 15:57 NKJV
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:31 NKJV
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:37 NKJV
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Remember the Work of the Spirit

1 Corinthians 6:9–11 NKJV
Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

Remember to Guard Your Heart

Proverbs 4:23 NKJV
23Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.
What are you watching with your eyes that arouse sinful passions?
What are you listening to with your ears that are arousing sinful passions?
Who are you spending time around who help to arouse sinful passions?
What places are you going to that arouse sinful passions?

Run From It

1 Corinthians 6:18 NKJV
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

Replace with Righteousness

2 Timothy 2:22 NKJV
22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Righteousness is more than the absence of wrong or not doing wrong.

You sinned.

Remorse Over It

2 Corinthians 7:10 NKJV
10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

Repent of It

2 Corinthians 12:21 NKJV
lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced.
2 Corinthians 7:11 NKJV
11 For observe this very thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner: What diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what vehement desire, what zeal, what vindication! In all things you proved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Repeat until you Renew Your Mind
