These stories that Luke writes about shows us the responses of people to Message of Jesus.

1st we see the Centurion

2nd The People of Judea and the Surrounding region

3rd The Disciples of John

4th, The people and the Sinners

5th, The Pharisees.

Our response to the Word of God can bear 2 responses.

We can respond through Rejection, proving our faith to be inauthentic

We can respond through Obedience, proving to be authentic

What Produces a Heart of Rejection within us?

A heart that believes We are worthy or deserving

A Heart that is self righteous

A desire for our own purpose

Minimizing of our own wrongdoing/sin

What Produces a Heart of Obedience?

A heart that Acknowledges our own unworthiness to receive from God

A Heart that relies on God’s Justice not our own righteousness

A desire for God’s will

Not shying away from our own Sinfulness

How do we live out this reality?

We live actively before the face of God.

Ask God to search our hearts

Take account of the areas where we are not Obeying God

Repent of those areas

Let Jesus draw us closer to Him, Don’t resist His work in our hearts.
