1. (V1) The Disciples have experienced God through the life of Christ

Heard, seen, looked, and handled
God was manifested in the flesh through the life of Jesus
I write these things that your joy may be full
Luke 1:2 “just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us,”
2 Peter 1:16 “For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.”

2. (2:3) Have you experienced or do you know Jesus?

Have you asked Jesus into your heart?
The word propitiation carries the basic idea of appeasement or satisfaction, specifically toward God. Propitiation is a two-part act that involves appeasing the wrath of an offended person and being reconciled to him.
