Recently, we looked at John Matthew 7 verse 1 judge, not lest you be judged. This is the most popular bible verse with the nutritions electricians. We're not walking with God, but just want to pass through. They will tell Corvette verse to you judge. Not lest you be judged. But today we're going to take a different turn where we going to verse 12 in Matthew 7. What is Coming lyrics? Ford to as the Golden Rule, The Golden Rule do unto others as you would wish for them to do on to you do to others as you would wish for them to do on to you as we study your words, may your word not return void. May you teach our hearts? You help us to be more and more like you than a time. Now where everybody loves to isolate themselves or he's not love but because of Prior experience with relationship, you feel like doing life on my own is better than messing around with other. People are trying to build a relationship with them but instead we try to stay away and during the pandemic with isolation and we have gotten even better living in isolation but this morning we will see differently than we will see that. No man is an island God created us for relationship and not just superficial relationship but God called was too deep. Connections to real relationship. Most of us our relationship with others are superficial at best. If we will talk about something that is really important to you, something that is really deep to you. It is only known to you, but not to others. And as a result, many of us continue to grow for the same cycles of problems over and over the good, where you look really have, somebody would deeply loved us, who is praying for us. And is also helping us get over whatever that we need to get over so that we can move to the next level. And here as we get our tax in Matthew chapter 7 in the text, that is known as the golden rule that simply says. So whatever you wish that others would do to you do also to them. And it says for dishes the law and the prophets, whatever you wish that others would do to you do. Also to been for this is the law and the prophet here on our texts with looked at method judging others from verse 12, verse six. And then we looked at last week about prayer, and then from prayer asking prayer, for discernment number, God says, if you pray for the sermon, guess what? He will give it to you because Jim says at you do not have because you do not go to see if you need wisdom, you just need to ask God and God will give it to you freely. God will give it to you generously. That means when you're asked, God for wisdom, God will give you even more than you ask. Remember, Solomon Solomon asked God for wisdom and got to smell only. I'm going to give you wisdom, but I'm also going to give you well, and Solomon was the richest man in the world because he asked God for wisdom to hear The Sermon on the Mount here, arriving at the Golden Rule home. This is what you would call like the climax in the star man has. Jesus, has been teaching Us in chapter 5. When Jesus started in chapter 5 talking about the big attitudes and one of the Beatitudes that correlates directly to the golden wood is that it's supposed to be merciful to others because when you are merciful to others, what will happen? You will receive mercy and it goes on and says that you need to be Salt and Light then lose on and talking about loving your enemies. And then from there, we have prayer and God is telling us that if we do not forgive others, God also will not be able to forgive us, and then why do you start with? So which is the same as therefore, that's why we have to ask. Why is it there for? Because in 520 says, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not get into heaven. Jesus is saying that you need to be real. So really looking up chapter 7, which is there a way to tell? For sure, if you look at the first part, it talk about not judging others but judging rightly and I'm through with your asking, seeking a knocking asking for wisdom. God says it will give it to us. So really, what is trying to say here? So, he's trying to say, Stop criticizing, start loving. And then Jesus he is going to tell us. This is how you love the way you love. Is that whatever you wish that others would do to you, you do to them for this is the law and the prophets. This is not just another of reciprocity, jesus takes us to a whole new level with Jesus is saying I'm calling you too. Selfless. Love Does whatever you wish that others would do to you. Jesus says I want you to do it to them as well in the New Living Translation translation. It goes like this, do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of that is taught in the law and in the plaza. That means the first 39 books of the Bible, the 55 books. That's why it's referred to as the law and the other books in the Old Testament, which are referred to as the prophet to hear it saying, the teaching of Moses and the teaching of all the prophets, summarized in this one, do to others whatever you would like them to do unto you. You have a really wonderful world. If all of us would care about the needs of each other that we are concerned about each other's needs and go about meeting those needs. But that's why Jesus is calling us to. So here's their message in one sentence when you practice the golden rule of Jesus all day and every day you are becoming more and more like him and helping to make our world a better place. That makes sense. When you practice the golden rule of Jesus all day and safe with me. Everyday, let's try again. When you're back to the golden rule of Jesus, when all day and every day, you are becoming more like him and helping to make our world a better place of yoga. Think all of us at some point, we practice the Golden Rule their what is missing from us is the consistency of the Ring it everyday. Cuz all of us at some point you have helped somebody that was in need. I hope right? At some point you have to help somebody in need, but the problem we have is the consistency of doing that all day and every day. And that's why Jesus is calling us to today that all day and every day. How do we live? We treat others, as we want to be treated, whatever you wish that others would do to, you do. Also to them, this is the law and the prophet, wouldn't that be wonderful that you weren't, you know, a nice Mercedes. And then you said, let me just take your back. There was a first made 90k, it's just a joke, okay.

18 or treating each other how we want to be treated. In the good news translation says, do to others what you want them do for you. This is the meaning of the whole law and the prophets. Jesus was not the only one that the Golden Rule other teachers of old have also taught the Golden Rule. But look at the difference in how they have talked to Golden Rule as opposed to Jesus. How are you will see that? Jesus took it to a whole new level hero who were the rabbi was one of the very famous Jewish rabbi. Somebody asking, you know, what would be the best way to live out God's law? And he said this, he says, do not do to others. What is hateful to you? Do not do to others. What is hateful to you when it says God is the Torah and everything else is commentary. So you say, you lived by this do not do to others. What is hateful to you? He's saying that you are fulfilling the whole law of God. Everything else you see? There is a commentary others with what pains yourself hurt. Others. With what pains yourself. Confucius also taught the Golden Rule Confucius said, do not impose on others. What you do, not wish for yourself. Do you see a difference between those teachings and Jesus teaching?

Connecticut news. It's Employee Appreciation. You know. Do this. Don't do that. I don't want our natural instinct when we are told not to do something. We just want to do it. Best teachers were teaching self-restraint. That means something good. We are not able to do it is in the negative. What happens with those teachings? As long as I don't do certain things, I'm okay.

So, if I see you on the road, you know, ever never going to hit you on the road. I'm okay, right? But I can see you have an accident and I just keep going to do not do to others. What is hurtful to you are calling for self-restraint, film good. Jesus is calling us to self-denial. Selfless, Love for Jesus. It says you have to do something before, there's other teachers, that's why you see that some of the movie, when the monastery and then you just meditating, right? And then you just leaving in isolation, then you don't have to do.

Dinner table make. Holy right? Like a team and we let Mary, but I think they know everything.

Or do I need to realize that? I'm not all that. Holy

easy to hear, they're calling for self-restraint, but Jesus is calling for self-denial. Jesus is calling for Selfless Love because that's what truly will train. It will transform the world. It says, do unto others as you would have them on two years of Jesus, way of teaching, the golden rule is calling us to action will Jesus. You have to do something because it says, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, you got it. So Jesus is telling us calling us to actions Luke 6:31 who took the same way do to others as you would have them do to you. Three takeaways from the Golden Rule three, take away from the Golden Rule. The first one is God is calling us to be obedient. God is calling us to be obedient. Was that a direct command from Jesus? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. So this is a command from Jesus, this was not a suggestion. Jesus said, I want you to do to others, as you would want them to do to you treat others, as you want to be treated here, this is a direct command from Jesus. And as Believers, we need to joyfully practice the Golden Rule because Jesus commanded us to live as such. Look at John 13:17 in our reading this week and I are reading plan, it's bad. If you know this thing's blessed are you if you want Google feed, the word of God is worthless. It's meaningless. If we don't put it into practice, but in our country, we are so great. At having our Bible, it will sit on the coffee table. Everybody has a Bible at home but never open. The Bible, Luke has Chris ever can be and then you need to put into practice. What is in the Bible number talking to somebody. So I have to now I have one on each side of the little bit. I've been reading or no.

Yellow Mustang, that goes protection. It just by having the Bible in Ireland table. Nothing at all. Some of us Pain by carrying a Bible, it out purse that gives us protection.

Ticketmaster.

You were just like any other bills because you're not opening it and you not living it out and even if you reading it and you not putting it into practice, it is. What do you do? If you know this thing's Blessed, are you if you read them? if you talk about them, If you do them, the blessing is in obeying. That's why. I said, if you seek me first and my righteousness, everything that you asked will be added on to you, John 13 verse 34 to 35 has a new commandment. I give to you that you do what you love one. Another how just as I have loved you how did Jesus love us? He died for us. He loved the sacrificially and he loves us unconditionally. Love how conditions today degree. We only like really loves certain people. But God, says our love needs to be unconditional. Because did Jesus make difference in, in the hole that he loved, they say that he was having lunch with Sinners and tax collectors.

Jesus went to see the keys. Too bad, he would share the gospel with them. Now, I'm not calling you to go, hang out with Sinners and then then you start thinking on their habits and start drinking with them and then start doing the things that they are doing. Jesus, did not do that. Jesus went and hung out with thinners and tax collectors to restore them, to bring them to God. And that's what we need to do, as well as we hang out with Sinners and do his Ward during wrong. The goal is restoration is to witness to them not to pick up on their habit and I think we do any more of that now where we breaking up from unbelievers. Instead of using God's word into them and God's way of life, but instead Broadway of Life affect us, much more God calls us to be able to step in the culture. We set the tone colors to be in tomorrow to just register the temperature in the culture and then go out and just just leave me like that but that's okay. You are the thermostat. You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world. God called me a YouTube culture. How to live you tell the culture had to work. You tell the culture. What is right? I do not know. That's why Jesus on the cross. Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. But now we're pick talk with you to the people who don't know anything other louder. and right now in our culture, everybody on extra because you can get on YouTube, you can get on Tik-Tok and then you can say something that doesn't mean anything, but it's just that feeling 2 hours today, And I know that makes sense. And then you taking your advice. And then why all the word of God is still in collecting dust on your lamp table, Bible app, you never opened it but every other app is being used.

Anything God says, you are the thermostat. You said the tone, your group of friends, may they know where you stand may, you treat them like they need to be treated moving out, the Golden Rule. See the Bible says, we are letters that are being read by men who is a living out of the oven with people with Stephen in us. And then they will want to live by the Golden Rule, but when we are just picking up stuff from them, from their word of daily set up, then picking up from us, how we might have to leave for the bus was supposed to know better then our world cannot get better. Jesus say a new commandment that I give to you that you love one another just as I as I have loved you. Listen to a lot of things you hear online even from church leaders. It's all about self-preservation. It's all about selfishness. It's all about protecting yourself. Don't lie, Pony, stay away from the new do this. You have to protect yourself. A dog called a sound good because I don't know if you are leaving and breathing, you have been hurt by someone at some point in your life. And God is saying, I'm not calling you to go in and try to protect yourself now and no longer be in relationship with others. But God is saying, I'm asking you to love just as I have loved, what did they do to Jesus? The datum the floor room, they put him on the cross and ultimately killed him. But even on the cross, he still love you said father forgive them for they know, not what they do. And Jesus says, you also you are to do what? Love one another by just listen to this. All people will know that. You are what my disciples that you are a Christian. It's by your love alone. You go around you. That would people buy me for 5 years and then never know who you your faith. They cannot even guess that you are Christian. Are you were student? People cannot even guess. You were Christian. How will they know by this? All people will know that you are my disciples how if you love one another. So Jesus says, we need to be set apart as we go. We need to do unto others as we would like them. Do unto us. We need to be loving. We need to have love for one another. I love the way that CS Lewis puts it in his book. The Four loves. He puts it this way. Mike is happy, he loves his Lewis, loves you guys to love at all. Is to be what they did with me. Google, love, anything, and your heart will be run and possibly it with me. Broken. If you want to make sure keeping it in act, you must give it to no one. That's what the culture is teaching today. You might give it to No One, not even on animal wrap it around with hobbies and little luxury things. That pleases me that keeps me. I keep my trees without having my phone.

Look it up, safe in the casket or Kaufman of your web selfishness. But in that casket, it is safe. When your dog involve other people, it's pretty safe for you and you can do whatever you want, right? It is safe. But it is also what it's dark.

Merciless. There's no are either.

Because we are asking for when we are picking up on the selfishness of the world, it might feel comfortable because it only involves us, we don't have to worry about others. Good, it will change. It will not be broken. Yes, that's what we were avoiding. But listen, it will become Unbreakable. In connectable and irredeemable which one we going to have a hard heart.

Love is to be what? Vulnerable. CS Lewis just playing this weird yesterday. But that's where we are in our culture. We have been taught selfishness self-protection self-preservation. But we do not want to love fully, but she's a size 8, in order for you to do unto others as you would wish for them to do unto you, you have to be in, you know what, to tell, you have to be in relationship with one another. That means when you see your coworker. Hi, how are you today? How was your week instead of just walking to your office, walking to your cubicle, or no care for others? It is the same way, you know, with other people that you do life with, that's it. You have to go and you need to be in a relationship with others. Another for you to apply that command from Jesus, do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. The bottom line. You serious, Lewis is trying to tell us while love is risky, it is essential to The Human Experience and involves a willingness to be vulnerable. That's the way to live. Yes. We might get hurt. But we need one another, the second take away, we get from the golden rule is not only to be obedient to do what Jesus is Dallas to do. But the next thing, we seen the golden Willie bed, we need to be proactive. We need to be proactive cuz Jesus says, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The Jesus says a wait and see how people treat you so you can treat them. Jesus is putting it on you. To take the initiative to do unto others as you would wish for them to do unto you that a lot of us, we just like to wait, right? the wave how people treat us and based on how they treat us as we do what we return the favor but Jesus saying Calling you to take Danish death. If you want somebody to love you, Jesus says start loving them. If you want somebody to care for you start caring for them. If you want somebody to be patient with you, you need to start being patient with them. If you want somebody to be kind with your Jesus, a start be covered him with them. Do you say, you want somebody to be gentle with you, when you do you start being gentle with them? And it's not even for the reciprocity. Jesus says, I'm telling you to do it even if they don't do it back to you.

Old gets really muddy now.

Read about reciprocity. Jesus is calling us to self-denial and Jesus is calling us to Selfless. Love You Love, even when people don't love you, You are you be kind? Even when people or not time to you. Nothing used to bother me more when you open the door for somebody and they just walk, right? Flu.

It's like you were just a robot or not even do it like me.

But I just talked to Lauren, I open the door because it's the right thing to do. I did not open the door so that somebody can say, thank you to me. I opened the door because I would want somebody else to open the door for me. Even if the next do I have to open it for myself? I am only trying to be more like Jesus because Jesus says, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It's not about what's in it for me because our culture teaches us, you only do things that you will get a return.

Finding what you hear in the culture. We're not calling to selfless the love. The culture is telling you, you scratch my back and I'll scratch your back. That's not what Jesus is calling us. To Jesus said, I'm taking this to a next-level you have even when there's nothing in it for you. And Jesus, as in other scriptures that what is it? If you help somebody that can help you what what is it? But if you help somebody Indian, be going to come and help you. But Jesus says in the Romans 13 verse 8 and 900, no one anything except to what love each other. For the one, who loves, another have been one full, feel the Lord, Jesus. Loving, everyone, that you come in contact with. And wisely last week that only we need to be obedient. We need to be proactive, but Jesus and the golden rule is asking us to expect. Nothing NADA in return, expect nothing in return. As you living out, the Golden Rule Tattoo against 2 verse 3 and 4 speaking about Jesus, when Jesus went to the Cross, he didn't do it for himself when he says, you need to learn. That is where it says, do what something nothing from selfish ambition or complete, but in humility count, others. More significant than self. Let each of you look not only to his own interests but to the interests of others. Say this one together you, right? Because this is a transforming verse that really let's sit together. Nothing from selfish ambition or vain conceit but in humility count others, more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look like only to his own interests but also to the interests of others. Do they have called the CEOs, Salvation Army one time to give a speech? He just got up and Irene went there. He said others. Others others. Then wait and sit down. That was his speech. Others, others got call this to be other Center but all the teachings now in the culture even coming from the church would popular online preachers. That calling you to self preservation to selfishness the way Jesus. That's why we need to read the Bible for ourselves. Jesus says, Paul riding in Philippians. It says, do nothing from selfish ambition. Nothing. Nothing at all from selfish ambition. See, the only way we can do that is really to do it when your heart is right with Christ. Put it this way. If our fellow Christians are truly our brothers and sisters in the Lord, it is inconceivable that we shall be anything other than caring and constructed in our attitudes toward We have to care for one another. We have to love this is the way of Christ 3134 Isis as you wish the others would do to you, do to them and look at the following versus because if you love those with love you what benefit is that to you for any Man spinners? Love, don't love people who are not Christians when they do, get in the world, brings in the world in 30, 32 oz. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you for even? Sinners, do the same and if you lend to do from whom you expect to receive what credit is that to you? Even what Center? The land to settlers to get back the same amount. So really, when you subscribing to self protectionism about selfish teaching, you are

Jesus is calling us to be more like him. Selfless. Love others. So when we hear people teach me, we'd do it for the filters of the Bible, it might sound good because we are part of a culture, but is it biblical is the question? Is it biblical story of the Good Samaritan? He will receive a man asked Jesus. In the old lawyer, stood up and put him to the test and Luke 10:25 same teacher. What shall I do to inherit eternal life. He said to him. What is, what is written in the law? How do you read it? And he answered, you shall love the Lord, your God with all your heart. And with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind and love your neighbor have yourself, If he has that, you would love yourself. The windows by 400 self care about me. I'm going to focus on me, it's about self-love. God is calling us to God is not calling us to self-love and self-care kind of calling us to be selfless, not selfish. Says you shall love the Lord, your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength, with all your mind, and your neighbor, how as yourself, and he said to him, you have answered correctly, do this? And you will live. And it, look at the story of the Samaritan, but the he Desiring to justify himself said to Jesus. And who is my neighbor? Jesus replied, A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among robbers. Woo, strip him and beat him and departed. Leaving him half-dead. Now, by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. So, likewise a levite, when he came to the place and saw him pass by on the other side. That's the worship leaders at you. Those are the deacons for this American half-breed people that hate in the culture as he journeyed came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion, he went to him and down up, here is one pulling on oil and wine. Then she set him on his own animals and bread came to an end and took care of him. And the next day, he took out to dinner, I and gave them to The Innkeeper saying, take care of him and whatever more you spend. I will repay you. When I Come back. Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor? Jesus asked The Men Who Fell among the robbers. He said the one who showed him what masse and Jesus said to him, you go and do likewise. So Jesus. Say, a time calling you to show Mercy in the world, has the thing. Selfishness does we never get to fulfill all that God has for us? I love the weight of d.l. Moody puts it. It says let God have your life, she can do more with it then you can see it when we focus on selfishness on selflessness. You never get to live out God's plan for your life. You just all for yourself, then you will never really have an impact in the world that is Meaningful. We still talk about d.l. Moody today because he was self less. We still talk about c.s. Lewis today because he contributed to the world. But when you are selfish, we still talking about the Good Samaritan because he made what a difference in the world. But if you're just living for yourself, you're not making a difference in the world, your name will be forgotten. Galatians 5:14 says, for the whole law is fulfilled in one word. You shall love your neighbor. How as yourself James 2:14 says, what good is it? My brother is, if someone says he has Faith but does not have worse than that Faith, save him the Jesus called the state as Christians. We need to live out the teachings of scripture. When God says, do unto others as you would have them. Do unto, you don't make excuses Jesus says, you need to do it in a nutshell.

It is simply this beliefs must lead to actions go and proactively live Al Jesus command to do unto others as you would like them. Do unto you. When you live by the Golden Rule, Christ is magnified. Let us never be mean-spirited. But always generous never harsh, but always understanding never cruel. But always time did what Galatians 5:22 tells us that the fruit of the spirit is what love Joy peace, kindness goodness faithfulness. Gentleness self-control against their things. There is what no law? This is what Jesus is calling us. Love others as much as you want to be, joyful bring joy to others. You want. Peace. Bring peace to others. Be kind to others. Be good to would others be faithful to order those be gentle exercise self-control when you want to act in certain way exercise self-control. But Jesus says 8 when you living like this, You are becoming more like me and those who belong to Christ. Jesus have crucified. The flesh with its passion and desire. Susie, the Christian walk. It's a walk. That is not about self. It is a walk by the spirit for a 25 says, if we live by the spirit later, also keep in step with the spirit. Let us not become conceited provoking one, another envying, one, another And this is the cultural really where we are leaving an Envy jealousy of one another because I'm calling you to live behind us. Don't provoke others. Let us not believe in jealousy toward one another but it's saying I'm calling you to love and you can't really live this life. You can't live without the Golden Rule. The only way you can do it. It's by God's grace. Does Jesus tell you can't do the second commandment without doing, what the first one. The first one is to love God and what does God say?

And hope does not put us to shame because God love has been what poured out into our hearts. Through the Holy Spirit who has given, what has been given. The only way we can do this is by the power of the holy spirit so we can I give me the excuse that. I have no more love to give Is God's love Limitless, Limitless. It is Limitless. God love is not limited. God says yes. The word his love into our hearts. So that means even when people break your heart, you still have. More love to give same with me. Even when people break my heart, I will have more love to give one more time. Even when people break my heart, I still have more love to give. Father, may you help us this morning? Love like you love me, you help us to do unto others as you have done unto us. I love the way you read in the message translation. Here's a simple rule of thumb. The guide your behavior, ask yourself what you want people to do for you. Then grab the initiative and do it for then. Add up God's law and Prophets and this is what you get. Father, help us to go out and live, the Golden Rule. It's in Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen.

Build my life.
