Mark 1:29-31

There’s a word from the lord, coming from the book of mark

Mark chapter chapter 1 verses 29-31

And you should find these words as they are printed

Mark 1:29–31 (ESV)

29 And immediately he left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 30 Now Simon’s mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. 31 And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.

That’s enough , I want to talk for the next fleeting moments with the help of the holy spirit

I want to talk about

“ your healing is on the way”

“ it’s about to get better”

“ trouble don’t last always”

The lord touched me

When we look at our text ,

we find where Jesus has just left the Synagogue

He has just left church service

And now, he has entered the home of Simon and Andrew, with James and John

This was a great Sabbath day, in the town of Capernaum.

Because The Lord had shown up in the synagogue and preached with power and authority.

THIS WAS A GREAT DAY

This was a great day

because → That day, Jesus showed His power over the spirits, and that afternoon, He was ABOUT show His power, over sickness.

I mean

This was a great day

→ Jesus had showed His power over demons, now He was about to show His power, over disease.

This was a great

AND NOW in our text

we would find where the Lord HAD left the synagogue , and now he has entered the home of Simon Peter and Andrew, along with James and John.

Peter and Andrew lived in Capernaum at the time , and according to text, we gather that their home, was not too far, away from the synagogue.

AND HERE is Jesus, who has entered the house of one of His followers.

Understand JESUS, is in this house , because he was invited into….this home

Understand, he has entered into this home, only because…. they Have welcomed him in their home and in their hearts

Can I tell ya ,and this is something that we all must understand

Jesus will not come into just any home or heart.

He has to be invited In

He has to be invited , in our homes and in our hearts

Can I suggest to you today beloved

If we truly want God to move in our lives

And If we truly want God to meet our needs

And if we Truly want God, to show up and show our

The lord Jesus , must be invited in our homes and in our hearts

He has to be invited In

And you know, I must say this , and please hear me well

what I’ve come to the conclusion to believe is that, I believe that, the reason why God, has not met many of our needs, and have not shown up, in some areas in our lives, is because, I believe, we fail , to INVITE THE LORD IN

I believe that the reason why God has not moved in many of our lives, is because we often fail, to welcome the lord and invite the him , in our lives

And you know, I must say, that even when we look at todays church , I believe, that the biggest problem that we have as a body Christ , is that, for some, God is not longer invited in

What I’ve discovered is that,

we have made the church out to be, a talent show, rather than allowing God to show up

We have made the church out to be a rush hour moment , rather than inviting the lord In and allowing him, to have his way and move , like he know how to move

AND We have made the church to be, all about us , rather it being, all about the lord

But can I tell ya, if we truly want to see Gods power displayed IN OUR LIVES

if we truly want to see God move

if we truly want to see people healed

And if we truly want to see people delivered and set free

Then we have to learn , how to invite the lord …. in our hearts

CAN I TELL YA

And you know , I really think ,that this can be good moment for all of us to pause , to invite the lord in

And say lord

lord you are welcomed in this place

And say, holy spirit You are welcomed

You are welcome in my heart

You are welcomed to have your way

Brothers and sisters, If we truly want to to see Gods power displayed

we must invite the lord in.

And here, Jesus is welcomed in the home of Simon Peter and Andrew

And what we see here is that Peter and Andrew , not only brought their friends James and John along with them

but they also brought the lord Jesus, along with them

This is something that I need you to notice something

Notice: After the service was over

Notice, The men did not leave Jesus at the synagogue.

But they brought Jesus with them, to the house

And you know, this is what really caught my attention , because not only did they have Jesus at church, but they also brought Jesus along with them

And you know , what I’ve discovered is that

There are Too many who claim to be Christians,

who leave Jesus ,…at church.

They never bring the lord home, with them

They dont think about the Lord, all week,

they dont talk to the Lord all week,

they don’t read their Bibles , all week,

They leave Jesus, at church

But can I bless some of you with this morning and tell ya

having Jesus is good, but having him only on Sunday’s, ain’t good enough

Having Jesus with you in worship is good, it’s good to have him with you,

but just having him one day out of the week, ain’t good enough

we need him , 7 days a week and 24 hours a day

can I tell ya why, because there gone be days during the week , when you gone need him with you

Because There gone be days during the week, when you may have to deal with some trials and tribulations

there gone be days during the week , when you may have to deal with the storms of life

there gone be days during the week, when you may have to deal with some family issues

There gone be days during the week, when you may have to face some Ups and downs

And can I tell ya , you gone need the lord to be with you ,

in your home and in your heart

And I wonder is there anybody here, who can testify that you just don’t have the lord with you on Sunday, because one day ain’t good enough

But the lord is with you , in your home and in your heart

As a matter of fact

somebody can even testify that

you take the lord with you, everywhere you go

As a matter of fact

He’s with you, in your car

He’s with you, on your job

He’s with you , at Walmart

he’s with you, everywhere you go

let me say it like the season saints

And he walks with me and he talks with me and he tells me that I am his own

And so here it , understand, Jesus has been invited in the house

And in this house , the text tells us that

Peter, Andrew, James, John, Peter’s wife, and Peter’s mother-in-law, was in the house

But most importantly, Jesus himself , the master,, was in the house

And here, we will see is that that their were people in the house

But not only were their a problem in the house ,but we see ,that their was also a problem in the house

The problem was that, Peters mother n law, was sick in the house , with a fever

she was lying sick , with a fever

She was very ill

Her temperature was high

listen, There was a problem, in the house!

But I need us to understand here , how to trouble has a way, of popping up, right after God has moved in a mighty way

Because when we look at the text

we would find that, The disciples had just left an amazing synagogue service, where the power of God was displayed

They had just left a powerful move of God, now they would come home, just to find another problem.

I mean, they have just left a powerful service, where God moved , in such a mighty way

where deliverance took place

Because we saw in verse earlier, how Jesus had delivered a man, who had an unclean spirit

The lord displayed his power, and now when they arrived home, they are faced with another problem

And you know and we all know

And let me say this that, We cant fully prepare or plan for problems.

Because problems are going to come

But if you will, allow me to be transparent

Because what I find interesting

That sometimes, it seems at times , that after God , has really moved in a mighty way, is when it seems like , that trouble is always waiting for us at home

sometimes it seems like, that after God has really blessed us , and God has shown up,

it seems like , that is when we meet trouble

And maybe, many of you ,haven’t been there before ,

but somebody knows , that sometimes , its right after a great move of God,

That is when you face trouble

And Here it is, watch this

Jesus is at the house

And here, we find, after they have left worship service, they come home to find Peter’s mother- in-law sick.

And this sickness that she had, must have disrupted the fellowship …. that day.

This woman was ill

—-

as a matter of fact

This woman’s sickness, had taken the strength from her.

This sickness, had messed her up so bad that, her get up and go, had got up and gone.

She was depleted and diminished, and was in a destitute situation.

This lady was lying down, not because she was tired, but because she was troubled, not because she was sleepy, but because she was sick, not because she wanted to, but because she had to.

Her physical condition, led to her physical position.

This woman was sick

This was a fever like no other , that had her weak, and had literally drained the life out of her

And you know, sometimes , that’s how a fever will do, It will drain the life out of you

Because You see, When you have a fever, you don’t feel like moving, you don’t feel eating, you can’t get comfortable, you can’t rest, you have no energy, and at times, you feel like you are going to die.

And this , is what, was going on with this woman

This fever, had gotten the best of this dear lady.

She needed some help.

This lady couldn’t help herself much less anyone else.

She needed to be helped, before she could be of help.

And you know brothers and sisters,

what I’ve learned in life Is that, Sometimes the Lord, before he can make things better, he has to allow us, to get flat on our backs, before we turn to Him and trust in Him and call upon Him.

And so here it is

Peter’s mother n law is sick. And while She is lying Down

Look at the text

They told Jesus , about about her condition

And watch this

When Jesus showed up in the home, there was a problem at hand.

But This problem, gave Jesus another opportunity, to display ….His awesome power.

Because as we would know, the disciples had trusted Jesus, they followed Jesus, and they already knew, that the Lord had power over spirits, sickness, and suffering.

And they knew, that if he could do it for others, then he was able, to do it again.

And so, In this verse, we see the wisdom of the disciples, to call upon the Lord for help

And We see, how they made an urgent request.

Because They told Jesus of her condition, not to inform Him, but to implore Him, to heal the ailing woman .

And what we see is that

The disciples made an urgent request, of the Lord.

They were desperate

And you know what I’ve learned is that , Desperate matters, require urgent requests

So They entreated the Savior, for help in healing.

And you know, can I tell ya , when we are in desperate need of something , we ought to make our request known to God

Because God is the only one who can fix any problem

can I tell ya

when it comes to God

No request, is too small,

No request, is too difficult,

No request, is insignificant

for the Bible Says in Philippians

Philippians 4:6–7 ESV

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

But watch this

notice that the disciples were not bashful or timid about their request.

They told the Lord Jesus about her condition.

The text says that

They told Him at once, of her condition.

Which means, they didn’t wait, they didn’t hesitate to tell Jesus

But they told Jesus , as soon as he showed up, at the house

Now when we look at this word once That word means that, they told him immediately

They told him directly

They took the problem to the lord

And you know, when we are in need of something

We are not to wait around to take our troubles, to the Lord.

we are to take it, straight to Jesus

See our problem is, that many times

We tend to talk to others about our problems, but we do not at once, tell the Lord.

But can I tell ya, He should be the first to hear of our problems.

He should be the first, to hear about our troubles.

Because the lord, is the only one, who can solve, all of our problems

And so here, we see that their was a problem in the house ,

we also see that they told Jesus about the problem in the house

And now we see how Jesus took care of the PROBLEM

Look at the text, after they came to the lord with the problem, The Lord Jesus responded to the request.

Look what happens

The text says, that Jesus took her by the hand, and lifted her up.

Understand that, this woman was lying down, because of her condition

She was so weak, that she couldn’t get, to Jesus

Her condition had her down

But watch this

When she could not get to Jesus

Jesus came to her!

And you know, can I tell ya , it’s a blessing that we serve a God, who is able to come to us, when we are not able to come to him

Can I tell you, It’s a blessing, that we serve a God, that when we are too weak , to get to him

He is still able to meet us, where we are!

And you know, like this woman, many of us who are here today, have been in a position, where we couldn’t get to the Lord,

life’s circumstances, had us helpless

Life’s problems, weighed us down

But thanks be to God, that when we couldn’t get to the lord, the lord came to where we were

And you know, i wonder is there anybody here, any praisers in the house, who can thank God, that he came to you , when you When you couldn’t get to him

But Watch this

The text said, The lord came and reached out and touched the woman and took her by the hand.

And can I tell ya that

→ When the Lord reaches down, he lifts up.

• He has the length to reach us and the strength to lift us.

Look at this

• He reached down to where she was , and He lifted her up, to where she needed to be.

And watch the text , the bible says , that when Jesus took her by the hand, and lifted her up

“ the fever left her.”

And This shows, that Jesus displayed his power, over sickness.

And so Watch the text

when the lord touched her

His touch is what lifted her up

see Jesus didn’t give her a pill or shot and tell her, to call Him in the morning.

But the lord touched her and lifted her up

And you know,

The Lord used many methods in His healing of the sick, the lame, the blind, the deaf, and the dead.

But In this miracle, Jesus used a compassionate and powerful touch of His hand, to lift up the sick lady.

And somebody today, needs to know that Jesus, is still able to lift you up

And so here, watch The text

We see that, there was a problem in the house

And now we see the woman actions, when the lord healed her

Because here, the moment that’s she’s healed by Jesus

The text says that, this same woman, that the lord had delivered , gets up and started serving.

Are y’all with me

understand , This was the same woman, who couldn’t get up, on her own ,

But the moment that the lord touched her, she no longer was lying down but she got up after the lord had healed her and she started to serve

In other words

She thanked the Lord, by her service

And can I tell ya today that this is also s reminder to everyone of us today

That when the lord has healed us and delivered us

it should prompt us, to serve Him, for all that he has done

And let me say this,

I know, Some of us may not be physically sick, but our spiritual strength, is gone.

Some of us have lost our passion and purpose.

Some of us have allowed our fire to go out

But when the lord has delivered us and set us free,

That alone, should prompt us, to serve the lord even more, For all that he has done

And can I tell ya, there’s many of us in here right now, that you know

GoD has healed you

God has kept you

God has set you free

God has made a way

God has lifted you up

God has touched you

God has healed you from cancer

God didn’t let Covid take you ou

And can I tell ya, if God has done all of that, we ought to have a reason to serve

We ought to get up and serve

And we ought, to get up and show everybody , since the lord has done a marvelous work, in our life

I think , what we Owe him , is our service

Since the lord, has didn’t not leave you, in the condition that you were in

I think, that what we owe God is our service

And I want to tell ya, that I really don’t think that it’s not fair, for us to come in, and after the lord has been good

and we hold out on our hallelujah

What we owe God our service

And I wonder, is there anybody here, who can say, I owe the lord a hallelujah

I owe god, thank you

why , because if all of us would be honest,

he didn’t have to heal

he didn’t have to deliver

You could have been dead, but the lord lifted you up

And you owe God , your service

Tell somebody , we can praise the lord, knowing that, trouble don’t last always
