Psalm 139:1-18....
Psalm 139:1-18....
God is omniscient! He knows everything, everything possible, everything actual.....all events and all creatures!
Nothing escapes His notice, nothing can be hidden from Him!
God’s knowledge is perfect. He never errs, never changes, never overlooks anything.....Hebrews 4:13 “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”
One writer wrote: “How solemn is the fact: nothing can be concealed from God!.....Ezekiel 11:5 “And the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the Lord; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.”
Though God is invisible to us, we are not so to Him.
Numbers 32:23 “But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out.”
Most of the “world followers” would love to strip God from His omniscience....they God’s divine perfection......they wish that there is no Witness to their sin, no Searcher of their heart, no Judge of their deeds!
How solemn is Psalm 90:8 “Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, Our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.”
In contrast to the believer the fact of God’s omniscience is a truth wells supplied with much comfort! In times of perplexity the believer says with Job 23:10 “But he knoweth the way that I take: When he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” It may be profoundly mysterious to me quite incomprehensible to my friends, but “He knows”! In times of weariness and weakness believers assure themselves in Psalm 103:14 “For he knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust.” In times of doubt and suspicion they appeal to this very attribute......Psalm 139:23–24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” .......In times sad failure, when our actions have belied our hearts, when our deeds have repudiated our devotion, and the searching questions comes to us, “Lovest thou me?”...........John 21:17 “He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.”
Our ever present, all knowing Father in Heaven is our encouragement to prayer......There is no cause for fearing that the petitions of the righteous will not be heard, or that their sighs and tears shall escape the notice of God our Father, since He knows the thoughts and intents of the heart......There is no danger of the individual believer being overlooked amidst the multitude petitioner who daily and hourly present their various petitions for an Infinite Mind is as capable of paying the same attention to millions as if one individual were seeking It’s attention..........Lack of appropriate language, the inability to give expression to the deepest longing of the soul, will not jeopardize our prayers......Isaiah 65:24 “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; And while they are yet speaking, I will hear.”
Psalm 147:5 “Great is our Lord, and of great power: His understanding is infinite.”
Herein is solid comfort. Human nature cannot be relied upon; but God can! However unstable I may be, however fickle my friends may prove, God changes not. If He varied as we do, if He willed one thing today and another tomorrow, if He controlled by impulse, who could confide/trust in Him? But, all praise to His glorious Name, He is ever the same. His purpose is fixed, His will stable, His Word is sure! Here then is a ROCK on which we may fix our feet, while the torrent is sweeping away everything around us!
Hebrews 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
