Facing Your Giant

One thing we all have in common are giants or obstacles in our lives. The older we get it seems the more they appear. They come in all manner of life circumstances. Some are physical, others are mental, and still some are spiritual. Yet in each case they are giants.
How do you face these obstacles?
The world depends on all sort of things, like physical resources, medical treatments, and self-help guru, you-tube, and physiologists.
What does the Bible Say?
David faced a literal Philistine giant, how did he have such courage to face him?
1 Samuel 17:32 KJV 1900
And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
Face your obstacles ! David knew the impossible situation but choose to fight anyway .
Remember your Deliverer
1 Samuel 17:37 KJV 1900
David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.
David knew the Lord would deliver him from past experience with the lion and bear. We need to remember how the Lord delivered us in the past and can deliver you in the presence.
3. Don’t fight in your own strength
1 Samuel 17:39 (KJV 1900)
And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.
David did not depend upon Saul’s armour because he was not use to them. Depend upon the Lord for our strength and not human resources alone.
4. You are not alone in your fight against giants.
1 Samuel 17:46 KJV 1900
This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
David did not go into his fight with the Philistine alone. The Lord was with him. We have the awesome presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives to guide to provide whatever resource we need to fight the giant.
5. Put your faith into action
1 Samuel 17:49 “And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.”
When David put the stone in the sling and slung it at Goliath, the Lord took over. We have the same assurance, when our faith is put into action, the Lord begins His part.
6. David prevail 1 Samuel 17:50
1 Samuel 17:50 KJV 1900
So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
David gain victory over his giant. Paul wrote “we are more than conquerer through Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Take courage and don’t be fearful, despondent, and discourage over your giants, help is on the way.
