Introduction:

Good Morning Everyone, last week we talk about how Jesus ministry was growing, and that John’s disciple’s were becoming Jealous of this. we talking about how jealously was harmful God’s will. then we talk about how Faith and obedience was necessary. which explain how our Faith leads to obedience. this week we are going to be really looking what Jesus meant when he was talking to Nicodemus, when Jesus explain God’s Love for the world. so today we are going to break down John 3:16 today. we are going to break it down by certain words today. so our main verse today is John 3:16
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
This verse here is usually the very first verse we learn as Christians, we come to understand what God has done through his son Jesus Christ. As Christians we come to understand that this verse is one of the greatest verse within scriptures for two reasons. (1) this verse here touches on God’s entire plan just within this one sentence. Martin Luther had called this verse “the Bible in miniature.” (2) the second reason behind why this verse is the greatest verse within scriptures is that this verse here for fill the superlatives within the scriptures: the supreme words that suggest the most wonderful known themes within God’s word known to mankind. So let us begin to breakdown this verse starting with our first point.

Point one: For God: The Greatest Being:

Many of you probably remember my series on who is God. everything within this world, mankind, and everything good was created by God or begin with God. so, does our verse here in the gospel of John 3:16, the very first part of it. “For God so loved the world” Here is the greatest Being. Our minds cannot conceive of anything greater than God. One thing to think about as a Christian is our responsibility towards God for everything has done for mankind. as Christians we come to understand that even Paul explain God does more than what is asked of him. Lets turn in our Bibles to Eph3:20
Ephesians 3:20 NKJV
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
God is a being that mankind can never put in a box. today many people treat God as a insurance company. when time of hardship they tend to go to God when everything is not going right in their life, then they will just put back on the self until they need God again. God is being who knows exactly who we are. God design us personally, God provides for us, and knows what exactly what we need when we need it. God is so Great, Mighty, Powerful, Compassionate, revengeful, Wrathful, Just, Merciful, and Loving. With God mankind would be helpless, and hopeless. This allow us to look at the second part within John 3:16.

Point two: “So Loved”: Greatest Trait:

One of the most important aspects of God is Love. All Christians come to understand that Love is very important to God. because just from our main verse John 3:16 for today talks about God’s love for mankind. The reason we also understand just how important Love is because of the Apostle Paul who wrote to the early Church in Corinth, Paul devoted an entire chapter on Love, what Love is. Let’s turn in our Bibles to 1st Cor 13:13
1 Corinthians 13:13 NKJV
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Paul writes about how all Christians should abide by three things, Faith, Hope, and Love. we come to see that the greatest of these three is Love. as Christians we come to know our God through his words, and we see that God has the greatest trait: “For God so Love the world. another verse we can look at comes from Eph 3:17-19
Ephesians 3:17–19 NKJV
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
From these two verses here within Ephesians we come to understand that Paul was writing to the early church about Christ’s love. As Christians we come to actually understand God’s love for mankind here. God’s love has dimensions that mankind could easily comprehend if they chose to do so. We come to see the breath, length, height, and depth of Christ’s, and Gods love through the scriptures of God’s word. Paul really lays it on heavy here within these two verses here by stating this “To know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge” which leads to ask this question here, what is the length of God’s love? our answer comes straight from our main verse in John 3:16. “God so Loved the world he gave his only begotten Son...” God’s love went all the way. This allows to look at a next point.

Point 3:The World: The Greatest Company.

The question we are going to be answering today is, To whom did God extend his greatest trait? well see the answer from our main verse in John 3:16 again. “For God so Loved the World.” As, Christians we come to understand that God has given the greatest company our minds can conceive. we come to understand that God loved all who lived, who are now living and who will live before this earth is destroyed. However we as Christian come to understand that it not just the greatest company that our minds can imagine, but Christians understand that it is also the most undeserving company: The world must come to realize that they are sinful, disobedient, a world in darkness. God does not approve of the ungodliness within the world, but still love the world. we come to understand that God love us and Chose us. As Christians we come to see that God demonstrates his love for the world, lets turn in our Bibles to Rom 5:8
Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
and we come to see that from our main verse in John 3:16
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
“For God so Loved the world he gave begotten son” As Christians we come to understand just from these two verse God sacrifice his only son to die for all who have sin against God, the past, the present, and future. we as Christians come to understand the depth of God’s love for all people who live on the earth. we also understand his patience for mankind back in 2nd Peter 3:9
2 Peter 3:9 NKJV
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
the difference between Christians and people who live a worldly lifestyle is, that Christians come to understand that God want a relationship with us, and that God cares for us, were as the people of the world do not know God, or believe in or care for the life after this one. this allow us to move to our next point for today.

Point 4: That God Gave: The Greatest Act:

The next question on list of question today is what did the greatest being do for mankind? As Christians we come to understand that God who has the greatest trait which is love. we come to understand that because of God’s love God was willing to send his son to died for mankind. we come to see that in our main verse for today in John 3:16
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
it really comes back to “For God so loved the world the He gave his only begotten Son.” As Christians we come to understand that there three acts that bring us close to God’s divinity: (1) the 1st Giving, (2) the second Forgiving, and (3) third thing is thanksgiving. As Christians we come to understand that the root of all three is Givings, which we come to see in John 3:16. That God had given his son for his love of the world. this allow us to look at the next Point.

Point 5: The only Begotten Son: The Greatest Gift:

Now we come to understand that God has showed his greatness of his love by what He gave for the world. we see that within our main verse in John 3:16
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
As Christians we come to understand that the greatest gift has now been given, we also understand that many gifts have been given through out ages. example is that wealth men would donate larges sums to cause that would benefit their local communities. As Christians we come to understand that no other gift could compare or compete with God’s greatest gift. As Christians we must realize what God really offer here (1) first thing we should notice is that God gave us his son. think about how heart-rendering it must have be to given up a son who was loving, obedient, and a dutiful son. (2) the second thing we should take notes on from our main verse is that God did not just only give us his son, but his only begotten son. A son in his likeness, a son in his image, and a son with the stamp of divinity on him. (3) thing we should note is that God did not just give his only son but gave his only son for sacrifice. Jesus would die a terrible, cruel, and shameful death for people who do not deserve it. God would have to give up on his only son even as the tears of pain were ripping out God’s own heart. This allow us to look at what Paul was trying to explain to the early church in Corinth. let us turn in our Bible to 2nd Cor 9:15
2 Corinthians 9:15 NKJV
15 Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
As Christians we come to understand just how important that this gift was, God sacrifice his son for our sins in order to bring us back into a relationship with him. Just from half of verse 16 in John 3. we see that importance of the verse and the importance of our salvation does not come from man alone. but through the grace, mercy, faith ,hope, and Love of God. Today many people struggle during hardship in this life. that is when they begin to waver from the faith, hope and love of God, eventually during hardship some people might even blame God for their problems. “Why God are you allowing this to happen, or what has God ever done for us? It really all comes back to our main verse of today. God gave us his son so that we too can live a life with God and Christ. From the verse of 2nd Cor, we need to be thankful for we were bought a price that we could never pay. A price that even the whole world has trouble comprehending. As Christians we come to understand that Love is so amazing, so divine, that it demands our soul, our life, and our all.

Conclusion:

Today we may have only broke down half the verse of John 3:16. I hope we leave here today understanding just how much God loves mankind and his people. 1st John 4:18-19
1 John 4:18–19 NKJV
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him because He first loved us.
today many people struggle without realizing just how much God loves them. today many people take fore granted the love of God and chose to live for their own gain within the world. this is reason why we must learn the life of Christ because he was sent here to die for all of mankind, and he is the only way to know the father who love the world so much that He was willing to send his son for us. John 14:6
John 14:6 NKJV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
The only thing i can ask is are you prepare for the day when Christ returns? there going being day when all will bow and confess that Jesus is lord. I may not when that day is, but are you prepare for it. Today many people struggle in this not knowing the love of God. if you wish to know the love of God, or struggle in this life, or seeking to place membership, or wanting to be baptized please come forward as we stand and sing. Next week will continue with the second part of verse 16 in John 3.
