You have the fullness to God’s love in Jesus.
WE are fully forgiven. Fully Loved. Fully Saved.
Nothing can separate that from you!
WE can lay our sins at the cross, because Jesus defeated a cosmic battle with Satan with His death on the cross. The cross for us represents Life.
Intro -
Living as a saved person comes with its wordly challenges. Will we let something small steer us from following Jesus?!
3 truths and a lie? The idea being, we can easily be persuaded and the only way to know if its true is by getting to know me. Same thing with Jesus. Then when people come and tell you things that are not true, you know! Or at least the HS guides you to know differently and find the truth from His word.
AS believers we will be hit from all over with lies wanting us to fall into sin. We can be our own worst enemy there. We can also listen to others, and allow sin in our life and fall away from Jesus. We MUST have a firm unbreakable foundation.
Transition: The bad news about the book of Colossians was that believers were under attack. The good news is that they were standing strong.
Point 1: Be Rooted in the Faith. vs 6-10
Point 1: Be Rooted in the Faith. vs 6-10
If you have been saved, be encouraged to remain faithful. Walk in Him. vs 6
Be rooted in Him. Built up in Him. I think of the word of building your FOUNDATION in Him. vs 7
Overflowing with thankfulness. vs 7
Do not let someone tell you something with their empty philosophy and deceit. vs 8
False teachers when they attack its usually done in two ways… They come at you with who Jesus is, and Who He is in you. vs 9 Christ is FULLY God! He REIGNS. HE is King!
Apply: We ought to aim to be built up so strong that NOTHING can break us. Picturing a structure. Something that will not rip. POWER TEAM… Phone book rip… Not happening… (DO SOMETHING HERE) Whos the strongest guy in here? Come try this. I also think about the boats of cardboard we made a few summers ago now. What allowed them to float or sink? (video)
BUT just like that…
You should not be persuaded by watching some tiktok videos… I still get videos sent to me from Carter Stapleton, and him asking me how to navigate truth from lies. (Navy)
Our faith shouldn't be persuaded by an unbelieving friend. IF your best friends are NOT committed to Christ, FIGURE out what you need to do so that they are not influencing you to FALL.
Our faith should not be easily shaken.
BEING ROOTED: I also feel like we can apply this to our commitment to church. Homework, birthday parties, being tired…. whatever… if we are going to be grounded in the faith and committed to walk in the Lord, we are NOT going to let the lame excuses get in the way of us faithfully following Jesus.
WHEN you STALL you FALL. Meaning when stop listening to the Lord and walking closely with Him, you will fall. It is harder to know right from wrong. Satan trips you into failing again. THAT can be agonizing.
Its like getting in a rut and you can not get out. (Like Meags van that one time)
Transition:
Point 2: You are HIS. Sin does NOT have to dominate you. vs 11-12
Point 2: You are HIS. Sin does NOT have to dominate you. vs 11-12
Here in vs 11 Paul uses circumcision… not as an actual physical thing, but it represents taking away the old self.
Here it means, that we can not live like we once did.
Apply it..
vs 12 Baptism identifies you. So when sin is at its door… you are about to mess up… YOU have been buried and NOW made ALIVE!
STOP and realize what you have allowed into your life.
Remember a time where you were caught in a lie. OR you were found guilty of something? What did you do? Make it right? Fight it? Like the time I was speeding with my mom. I actually didn’t fight it. I accepted my fate. The officer gave me grace.
Apply: You do not HAVE to live in sin any more. You don’t have to accept your fate! Students what sin is holding you back? What sin has a stronghold on your life. Jesus is saying if you know ME you don’t have to run from me. Come closer to me child!
Transition:
Point 3: God makes you alive by the Cross. Vs 13-15
Point 3: God makes you alive by the Cross. Vs 13-15
Vs 13 In Christ we have been forgiven. Completely.
He canceled our debt of sin by nailing it to the cross. Vs 14
vs 15 SATAN has no POWER over Jesus!
On the cross a cosmic drama was played out as God, in Christ, battled and gained victory over the powers of evil. Jesus Christ not only paid the penalty to atone for sin, but he also won a decisive victory over Satan and all the host of supernatural beings who were in league with him.

Close: Lord these sins… are yours. What you did on the cross… is something I could not repay, but you chose me anyway.
