They had a mis perceived what Jesus woudl be able to do for them. What does it mean to be in league with Jesus? We can do the same. (chapter 9sit in your glory on right and left).
Jesus is not our good luck charm that can get us out of trouble or someone that can make things break our way. Jesus is not a genie in a bottle giving us whateer we wish. Jesus is not like bug spray keeping all the things that want to sting us or bite us at bay while we walk comfortably through this life with our own agenda.
That is not Jesus.
We don’t ask Him to follow us around as we fulfill our plans, desires and agendas, we are called to follow Him to Jerusalem. We are called to give up our lives and lay them down in service and love for others.
