Identity is a fundamental aspect of being human. It shapes how we see ourselves, how we interact with others, and how we make sense of the world around us.

The scriptures are full of truth about who we are and what it means to be a child of God. So let’s dive right in to what it means to have an identity in Christ.

Identity can be influenced by a variety of factors, such as our upbringing, cultural background, education, experiences, and personal choices. It is shaped and formed throughout our lives and changes over time.
Identity plays a crucial role in how we see ourselves and how others perceive us. It is what makes us unique and distinguishes us from others. Our identity affects our behavior, attitudes, and interactions with others. It is also closely related to our self-esteem and self-worth, as our sense of identity can contribute to feelings of belonging and purpose. So with all this laid out in front of us, where do we find our Identity? Do we find it in our athletic ability, how about our jobs, is this what determines what people see us as? Our family life is this where we want our Identity to be? Well lets look at what influences us in all these places. Do we shape how we do all these things to conform to what other people think we should be? Or do we ask God where he wants us to be in each of these situations? The bible reveals that God defines our identity. If we go back to the very beginning in Genesis Adam and Eve experienced their true identity in its purest form. all their sense of self-worth and purpose came from the mouth of God. This is why they could have a true relationship with God. BUT then sin entered the world. In

This separated us from God and ruined our our intimacy with God and it would never be the same. But we were blessed that God has mercy on us all and sent his son to die for our sins. You see our debt is paid through Jesus Christ, we no longer owe for our sins, our dues have been paid. Let’s look at in a different light. When we go through 2 a days for football if you survive our dues are paid and You make the team. Don’t we feel a seance of pride? Walk with a new identity like I made it, I am a football player I made the team. We proudly wear our jerseys to school on Fridays just to show we made the team, and you should be proud. Back in the day when a girl was dating a guy she would wear his class ring so everyone knew she was dating someone that was her identity for others to know. What does it take to put on your identity in God to allow him to be your identity? This is rooted in Gods love for us which is unchanging, even when we face difficult times and struggles with sin, his love never wavers. Do you realize when we sin God does not love us any less? He does not get angry, he waits for his chance to forgive us and show us his unending love for us. I want us to realize as we grow in our relationship with Christ, we become more like him, reflecting his character to the world around us. Do you realize you can not create your own identity. To put it simply, your identity in Christ is who God says you are. Who are we to argue with God? Discovering who God says you are is one of the most beautiful and life giving gifts you can give yourself. God created you for one purpose as it says in

Isaiah 43:1
But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
But now, this is what the Lord says—

What an amazing promise God has given us to know he has summoned us, and we are his. All we have to ask him for forgiveness and follow Jesus Christ, and he will guide us in our journey. You see God wants to use us right where we are in our life we may be plumbers, farmers, nurses, or homemakers our job is to live our life in our respective lives for him and as him. This is how we fulfill his commandment to make disciples for christ. Allowing others to see our true identity is in Christ.
