New Living Translation (Chapter 2)
Chapter 2
The Apostles Accept Paul
1 Then fourteen years later I went back to Jerusalem again, (it was 14 years until Paul Returned to Jerusalem! Sometimes we don’t know the timing but we need to move when the call comes!) this time with Barnabas; and Titus came along, too.
2 I went there because God revealed to me that I should go. (again, We Go when God reveals it’s time to go) While I was there I met privately with those considered to be leaders of the church and shared with them the message I had been preaching to the Gentiles. I wanted to make sure that we were in agreement, for fear that all my efforts had been wasted and I was running the race for nothing. (Even though Paul felt as though he’d recieved the Gospel right from God, He still went to the other apostles to confirm the word he was spreading. This shows immense humility and great respect towards the other apostles.)
3 And they supported me and did not even demand that my companion Titus be circumcised, though he was a Gentile.
4 Even that question came up only because of some so-called believers there—false ones, really—who were secretly brought in. They sneaked in to spy on us and take away the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. They wanted to enslave us and force us to follow their Jewish regulations. (The only reason that circumsicion even came up was jewish people pretending to be Christian who we’re trying to get Christians to do Jewish things! God doesn’t care about that anymore!)
dean forgives; teacher says no, you stil need to pay; doesnt matter, its been forgiven.
Jesus paid; the religious rulers tried to say “you still need to do these things to be saved; but the gospel says we dont need extra stuff
5 But we refused to give in to them for a single moment. We wanted to preserve the truth of the gospel message for you.
6 And the leaders of the church had nothing to add to what I was preaching. (By the way, their reputation as great leaders made no difference to me, for God has no favorites.)
7 Instead, they saw that God had given me the responsibility of preaching the gospel to the Gentiles, just as he had given Peter the responsibility of preaching to the Jews.
8 For the same God who worked through Peter as the apostle to the Jews also worked through me as the apostle to the Gentiles.
9 In fact, James, Peter, and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognized the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co-workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles, while they continued their work with the Jews.
10 Their only suggestion was that we keep on helping the poor, which I have always been eager to do.
We will stop at this verse until next week

What is the Gospel

New Living Translation (Chapter 15)
3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.
Jesus died on your behalf! He raised from the Dead!
You and i needed that because of our sin!
Romans 3:2323 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;”
ALL sin and
Romans 6:2323 For the wages of sin is death,(We all deserve DEATH!)
but there is grace! there is life.
but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
in
John 3:1616 For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes…
(Not works for him, not who is perfect but those who believe)
in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
