King James Version (Chapter 10)
Matthew 10:16–20 “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.”
The bible is very clear as how hard being a christian is. there are multiple counts of Hardships that the disciples faced during there time with jesus even a little while after
Although i don’t have time to go very deep into that what i will say is
God never said this life would be a easy task and if it were to be a easy task well we can just say we are all going to heaven even though we all know thats not the case.
in our text that we read we see that we are used as sheep but are to be like serpants and harmless as doves.
in Genesis 3:1 “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”
the animal that is mentioned is as well a serpent which is mentioned to be thin, or not dense but in matthew its saying be wary and wise. its telling us to be on guard or cautious.
i know it may seem like i’m all over the place but the reason why i went into detail with the serpent is because we sometimes have to be versatile as christians.
if we aren’t careful enough we can become like the serpent in the garden of eden. which was deciving and a lier and a manipulater.
its the truth.
Its the Exact opposite of God and the way he wants us to be.
the life of a Apostolic is a life of Harsdship but is also a life of testimonies and a life of wisdom. can i mention to you today that though we are sheep and though we are the Children of God we still are to be hated and to be tested of are faith.
The bible says that we are to be flogged. we are to be beaten with sticks and dragged to bear witness ( to testify)
Can i just tell you today once Again, living for God will Not be easy it wasn’t mad to be easy.
there was only one deciple who wasnt murdered and that was john who died of old age. Everyone else was crucified, beheaded, stabbed, flayed or sawn in half.
and i’m sorry cause i’m not trying to scare you tonight but what i’m trying to get to you tonight that wolves are still hungry and still smelling for people like me and you.
can i just speak some truth tonight?
We are the people That no wants to be anymore. There’s not A lot of people in the world anymore who still hunger and thirst after his rightiousness who still do everything they can to touch the hem of his garment.
Matthew 10:22 “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.”
But the reward, oh the reward is far much greater than the very life that we live
