Baptisms

Credo vs. Paedo Baptisms
Illustrates the identity of our Church
No Secret : UNAZ is comprised of several different Christian Denominations
Some of which have become somewhat dogmatic on secondary issues
Beauty of our Congregation: (Works of Church)
1) We are here to worship the true and living God
Creator, Redeemer, Reconciler
2) Sow the Seed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the community of Ulysses, KS
In Evangelism, Service, and through our work
Rightfully representing the Image of God in the holiness He has prepared for us
3) Disciple the Body of Christ
Training up godly men and women in the faith unto service of our King
Holding one another accountable in the admonition of the Lord
Believer’s Baptism and Baptism for those who have yet to make a profession of faith
Both serving a right and faithful response to the New Covenant our Lord has made to us
Jeremiah 31:31–34 ““Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the Lord, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. “They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the Lord, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.””
Covenant Baptism is not only between Individual and God
But also includes the church
Baptism as public confession of the Trinitarian Faith (Matt. 28:19)
Baptism as personal association with Christ’s death and resurrection (Rom. 6:3–4)
Baptism as repentance from a life of sin (Acts 22:16; 1 Cor. 6:11)
Baptism as a pledge to live a sanctified life (1 Pet. 3:21)
Baptism as a rite of initiation into the covenant community (1 Cor. 12:13; Gal. 3:27)
Baptism as a mark of official community forgiveness (Acts 26:18)
God gives us this (Water Baptism) as an opportunity to respond (Means of Grace) to His offer of Salvation, freedom from sin, and restoration of everlasting life and communion with our Lord
Apostle’s Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
Will you be Baptized into this faith?
Do you Acknowledge Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?

Further Hostility

What is the proper result to faith
natural? Supernatural?
After Parables:
Jesus Continues...
To preach:
For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand
To Heal:
Matthew 15:31 “So the crowd marveled as they saw the mute speaking, the crippled restored, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.”
To Perform Miracles:
Five thousand Fed from 5 loaves and 2 fish
Walk on Water
For What?
-> Leading to
Matthew 16:13–16 “Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.””
Find Hostility to His offer of Salvation

Romans 3:10–11 “as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one; There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God;”
God choose Israel and gave them Covenant Promises
Now He will fulfill those promises
He makes good on His word, even though the Israelites will not, can not
Not only the Town’s Rejection of the Messiah
Their inability to be obedient, to respond
proven over and over in the OT
This is not only a stubborn rebellion toward what they are witnessing
Natural, rebellious, wicked, sinful man in his natural, rebellious, wicked and sinful nature

New Covenant

Matthew is about to document...
We are about to witness...
The work in which it took to save our souls
The offer comes with a price

Our King being enthroned
