WHEN we see a casket pried open, the hinges torn away, or the fastener destroyed, instantly we know the hand of a thief; but when we observe another casket neatly opened with a master-key, and the sparkling contents revealed, we note the hand of the Owner. Conversion is not, as some suppose, a violent opening of the heart by grace, in which the will, reason, and judgment are all ignored or crushed. This is too fierce a method for him who comes not as a plunderer to his prey, but as a possessor to his treasure. In conversion, the Lord who made the human heart deals with it according to its nature and constitution. His key manuvers itself into the lock; the will is not enslaved but set free; the reason is not blinded but enlightened, and the whole man is made to act with a glorious liberty which it never knew till it fell under the restraints of grace.
When God came into your life he didn’t come to stir up confusion or to destroy your life but He came to make your life make sense. and to all your senses highten by His grace. Not lessen,
Grace is defined as unmerited favor from God toward man. But this dictionary definition does not do the Biblical meaning any justice.
Grace is distinguished from the law, John 1:17 “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” ; its distinguished from works, Romans 11:6 “And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.” ; and from debt, Romans 4:4 “Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.” .
Theres no man made religion that has this express of grace. Theres no institution that has this expression of grace.
We are chosen by grace Romans 11:5
Romans 11:5 (NKJV)
Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
We are justified by grace Romans 3:24
Romans 3:24 (NKJV)
being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
Grace liberates us it frees us from the bondage of sin.
We continue in grace
Acts 13:43 (NKJV)
Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
We approach God is prayer at the throne of Grace Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
We grow in grace
but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
When we sin we do not fall from grace we full into grace. The only time we fall from grace is if we exalt the law above the grace of God.
Gal 5:4
You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.
“The very center and core of the whole Bible is the doctrine of the grace of God.”
And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,
J. I. Packer suggests that grace is simply God’s love demonstrated toward those who deserve the opposite. God’s grace is his gift-giving life, and the gift is himself.
Jesus Christ brought to man the grace He was already as the eternal Son within the Trinity.
Jesus coming to earth wasn’t something that was subscribed new to God. But Jesus was “full of grace and truth”
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ ”
And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.
Jesus was full of Grace and truth meaning that He possessed these qualities fully.
There wasn’t one part of His being where He failed to be grace.
Your sin doesn’t some how prevent God from extended and being grace.
Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,
Abounded. The greek word is huperperisseuo - meaning over, super, to be over and above, exceed, superabound, above much more in a comparative sense.
In a absolute sense grace abounded. Theres absolutely no one your sin will out match or out way the grace of God.
The grace of God is not a reaction to our creaturely ways but the extension of God eternally giving Himself as Father, Son, and Spirit.
Grace wasn’t apart of His attitude or it wasn’t worked into Him but Grace is who He is. Jesus is grace!
Michael Horton says, grace itself is “not a third thing or substance,” for “in grace, God gives nothing less than Himself.”
Gods grace toward mankind arises from the fullness of His being. He is gracious.
GRACE—Maturity in
MATURITY in grace makes us willing to part with worldly goods; the green apple needs a sharp twist to separate it from the bough; but the ripe fruit parts readily from the wood. Maturity in grace makes it easier to part with life itself; the unripe pear is scarcely beaten down with much labour, while its mellow companion drops readily into the hand with the slightest shake. Rest assured that love to the things of this life, and cleaving to this present state, are sure indications of immaturity in the divine life.
the Hebrew counterpart which is hesed. It some translations you will see loving kindness. Its God actively extending kindness to those who don’t deserve it.
The Law was given to Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
The law was given but Jesus Christ just is!
There are various kinds of grace- various purposes for which God exercises this divine attribute.
Common grace- Its all the favor God shows to mankind that is less than salvation.
Sometimes we think Gods grace is in opposition to nature but it actually liberates and controls nature.
Special grace- is saving grace, the Spirit’s work of applying Christ’s atonement to humans.
