v. 7 |
Compare to the words that are mentioned in verse 3 of the adulterous woman. It is the wise thing to take seriously the wise words of father rather than the words of an adulterous woman or that of foolishness.
v. 8 |
This implies that there is a way that the Christian ought to go that is not that of the foolish or adulterous woman. Don’t even go near her door. To be clear, this woman’s door is not on our way. Rather, it is off of the beaten path.
The remaining verses include
Giving of honor (v. 9) - Outward sign of your character. Shame based society.
Giving of time (v. 9) - Time wasted with someone not your wife or spent in foolishness is time that we simply cannot have back.
Giving of strength (v. 10) - The work that is put it in life does not benefit us when we dedicate it to foolishness of adultery.
Verse 11 points back to the wasting of time and the groan indicates that there is a great deal of regret that happens when we waste our time with the adulterous woman that is foolishness.
There are consequences when folly is involved. May we seek the wisdom of the Lord, which will cause us to avoid foolishness as well as the snares of an adulterous woman.
