Philippians 1:1–11

Paul’s Love for the Philippians (3-8)

Sharing in God’s Grace in Christ Jesus creates deep and emotions bonds. (3-5)

Sharing in God’s love with others produces that same love in our hearts for others. (7-8)

Paul’s goal for the Philippians was that God’s work through Jesus Christ would be complete, and that work must be done by God Himself. (6)

Paul’s Desire for the Philippians (9-11)

Paul prays for them so that their love (for God and others) would abound more and more. (9)

This abounding love will result in knowing and approving that which is most excellent - the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (10)

Knowing and loving Christ above all results in maturity and completion. (10-11)

Spiritual completion and maturity brings glory to God through Jesus Christ. (11)
