5. WE NEED TO CONTINUE BY FAITH
The definition in the msg bible says The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see.
You have to get a handle on what you cannot see. You have to trust Gods promises. If God said it , it is so.
We have faith in God, that there is a God and he is mighty.
This leads to our second point is do you trust him?
Many believe in God, as do the demons, but do you trust him?
6. WE NEED TO TRUST THE COACH.
You might have faith, but do you trust the coach?
I know a lot of people who have faith but they live like they have a bad coach?
We seem to be OK with surviving but not able to thrive,
We believe in healing but not today.
George Muller was a man of faith, he had three buildings and over a hundred orphans. With the pressures of ministry and the lack of finances at times it is tough. One day when he was ill he was probably wondering what is going to happen to these kids , how do we keep it up. He came across Ps 68:1-12
1 Let God arise, Let His enemies be scattered; Let those also who hate Him flee before Him.
2 As smoke is driven away, So drive them away; As wax melts before the fire, So let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
3 But let the righteous be glad; Let them rejoice before God; Yes, let them rejoice exceedingly.
4 Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, By His name Yah, And rejoice before Him.
5 A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation.
6 God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; But the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
7 O God, when You went out before Your people, When You marched through the wilderness, Selah
8 The earth shook; The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God; Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9 You, O God, sent a plentiful rain, Whereby You confirmed Your inheritance, When it was weary.
10 Your congregation dwelt in it; You, O God, provided from Your goodness for the poor.
11 The Lord gave the word; Great was the company of those who proclaimed it:
12 “Kings of armies flee, they flee, And she who remains at home divides the spoil.
He centered his thoughts on vs 5 - God is the father to the fatherless.
Right then it hit him, a good father will father all these kids and only God can father 100+ kids and provide for them and cloth them and feed them.
So he trusted God
Sept 18 1838 he ran out of money - but a package was sent to him several days earlier, he opened it and what was in it money. God new this need was going to arise in advance.
He ran out of food and had the kids sit down to eat with empty bowls and while they were seated food came in the front door .
He was so confident in God that not one time did he turn a child away
If we don’t trust the coach then who do we trust. I aked some here to watch the movie Miracle- It is about team USA’s defeat over Russia and capturing the Gold Metal. Everyone thought this coach was crazy, I could not be done, there wasn’t enough talent or drive.
The coach eliminated most of the people who tried out in one afternoon. People complained he cut some of the best players. Coach said I don’t need the best players I only need the right ones.
The right ones became a team because the coach new what he was doing.
Do you trust the coach.
Your head coach is Jesus - do you trust him enough to say whatever you want coach.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
Somebody say AMEN
This also means trusting God when your critiqued or when the coach want s to make some character adjustments.
We need to get to the point where we love correction, because we know it will better us.
Illustration - Head down in hockey means your going to get slammed and hurt.
7. WE NEED POWER TO LIVE ON
28 “It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions.
29 “Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
30 “I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, Blood, fire and columns of smoke.
31 “The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.
32 “And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the Lord Will be delivered; For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem There will be those who escape, As the Lord has said, Even among the survivors whom the Lord calls.
Like the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit will move you.
8. WE NEED PEOPLE TO WIN WITH
There are no lone ranger Christians.
It is all about the team - the body of Christ.
We are kingdom people - not our kingdom but his kingdom. AMEN
9 Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor.
10 For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up.
CONCLUSION
Some of you in this room need a win. You have a great coach, but winning takes a little effort
YOU ! – Your best days are ahead of you !!!!!!!
Remember
God is going to use the weak to subdue the strong
He is going to make the ordinary , extraordinary
He is going to use the meek instead of the proud
He is going to use the simple to confound the wise
He is going to elevate the low and lower the elevated.
The polished church is going to get dirty again.
The church will be centered where the people are not where we want the people to be.
We have seen answers to prayer. The impossible will become possible.
Family members are going to come to Jesus when you least expect it.
People who feel there time has come and gone are going to come alive and say here I am use me.
