Cast Your Care Upon the Lord

1 Peter 5:6–7 NKJV
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

The Problem of Worry

Worry has been described as negative thoughts whirling around a core of fear.
Worry is anticipating the worst.
Worry is being overwhelmed with things outside of our control.
Worry affects us mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Cares rob us of peace and rest.
Psalm 127:2 NKJV
It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.
Cares rob us of the good things of life.
Luke 10:41–42 NKJV
And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
Cares rob us of fruitfulness.
Matthew 13:22 NKJV
Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

Humble Yourself

Worry is powerless to help us.
Luke 12:25–26 NKJV
And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?
We are powerless to change what cannot be changed.
We must humble ourselves and admit that we are powerless to fix what is wrong.
We are to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God who is able to help us.

Cast Your Care upon Him

Philippians 4:6–9 NKJV
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Worry about nothing. Pray about everything.
Matthew 6:33–34 NKJV
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Thank God by faith for the help He will give.
Continue to pray and thank God until worry is overwhelmed by the peace of God.
Meditate on what is good. Let your mind be renewed by the word of God.
Romans 12:2 NKJV
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Continue to do the will of God.
Don’t let worry and care keep you from doing the will of God. Isn’t that the devil’s strategy?
If you do these things, the God of peace will be with you!

Believe He Cares for You

Self-pity hinders us from being free from worry: “Nobody cares about me.
God cares for you.
Luke 12:29–30 NKJV
“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things.
God is pleased to bless and help.
Luke 12:32 NKJV
“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
