Tell Them What You are Going to Tell Them

Introduction
A father and son were preparing for a hunting trip . As they started to pack the materials that they would need the son was pondering if they should take extra ammunition, Or extra flares and emergency equipment. The son wanted to take extra ammunition because he felt like the extra ammunition would allow for them to hunt longer , but the father insisted on the extra emergency equipment . As they were out hunting and unexpected winter storm came in and the two of them were stranded in the wilderness for a few days before they could make their way out . When they got back home the son said to his father we would have been in a lot of trouble if we hadn't taken that extra emergency equipment , you always say to be ready , the father looked at his son smiled and said well son part of being ready is being wise.
That's what we're going to talk about today as we continue in our study of the Olivet discourse to be ready , is to be wise. Now let's talk about how we got to where we are today last week we started our study of the olivet discourse by establishing that in our current time there are three main views of or end times. There is the premillennial view which believes that Jesus Christ will come before a physical time of 1000 year rule or a Millennium . With the premillennial view there is the rapture or the calling up of those who believe there is a time of tribulation, Jesus returns rules for 1000 years , and then there is the final judgment premillennial. With the post millennial view they believe that the world is going to become a gradually better place there will be a time when the church suffering ends and the church becomes the major influence within the world . This golden age is the Millennium and at the end of the Millennium Jesus Christ will return . Post millennial period now with our millennials they believe that we are currently in the Millennium the blame is not a literal thousand year. But it is the church age and at the end of the Church age Jesus Christ will return . We learned that no one, not even Jesus knows the time the hour the minute upon which he will return only the father knows that . We learned that when Jesus returns the world will not be ready for his return but as Christians we learned that our responsibility is to be ready . Not only are we to be ready but we are to attempt to assist others to be ready as well . So we learned that the overall central message of the olivet discourse is:
Series Central Idea: Only the father knows when Christ will return , as Christians our responsibility is to be ready
This is the central message of the overall discourse Jesus wanted us to understand that it doesn't matter what we try to do we are not going to know the time that he returns until he returns so we just need to be ready now as part of that being ready we need to be wise and that is the central message and the main idea of today's text part of being ready is being wise
Sermon Central Idea / Main Point: Part of being ready is to be wise

Tell Them

Explain the parable
Explain the wisdom of preparation
Question
Why not just let the other five virgins in.
Answer(s)
We have now to be prepared, when Jesus returns the time of preparation is over . If this mortal life should end before Jesus returns our time of preparation at the moment that we cease to breathe is over . We need to be wise we need to take advantage of the time that we have to prepare to do so so that when jesus does return we are prepared. We are ready.
Application.

Tell Them What You Told Them

If you are going on a hunting trip and you have the opportunity to take more ammunition , with more emergency supplies the wise thing to do is to take the more emergency supplies . That way should something happen you have the supplies that you need to get you through the situation . In ancient Israel if you were awaiting the bridegroom the wise thing to do is to make sure that not only do you have your lamps but that you have enough oil to light your lamps , your lamp is useless if you don't have the oil to light it the wise thing to do the thing to do to make sure that you are prepared is to have the lamp and enough oil . God has blessed us each and everyone of us with this life that we have . He has given us an opportunity to spend an eternity in his presence , but in order to do that we have to be ready, And in order to be ready we have to use wisdom. Not a worldly wisdom , but a godly wisdom that is given to us through the holy spirit . We repent, and give our life to Jesus Christ and then as we live our life the wise thing for us to do is to listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes the Holy Spirit will guide us in a direction that we do not wanna go , sometimes the holy spirit will have us to do things that we don't want to do . The virgins didn't want the burden of carrying the extra oil but some of them did because that was the wise thing to do and because they did the wise thing when the bridegroom came they were prepared, they were ready. The unwise versions would not take up extra oil and so when the backroom came their lamps were about to go out because they have to go and find additional oil they missed being able to go into the banquet. Don't miss being able to enter into the Kingdom of heaven because you are not wise enough to listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Do not miss being able to enter into the Kingdom of heaven because you are too sovereign to repent and too stubborn to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord And save your period repent, accept Jesus, and follow the council, follow the guidance, follow the direction of the Holy Spirit in doing this you will be wise , in doing this you will be prepared, and doing this you will be ready when jesus returns.
