he will … because of your shameless persistence. Note the NLT mg, which gives the alternate rendering “in order to avoid shame.” I think this is the better rendering of this verse. The use of the word anaideia [335, 357] (shamelessness) can reasonably be translated either as in the NLT text or as in the mg, but the ancient Middle Eastern cultural context strongly favors the idea of avoiding shame.

Luke & Acts Commentary

The request for help was not initially met because it was highly inconvenient and meant the disruption of the whole household. However, “in order to avoid shame” (see note on 11:8), the man roused himself from bed, disturbed his whole family, and granted the request.

All of these qualities Luke will amply illustrate as the Spirit works in the lives of Spirit-filled men and women in the book of Acts (e.g., Acts 2:44–45; 4:8–13, 23–37; 5:12–16; 6:8; 8:4–8; 9:27).
