Is a ladies long hair still required?

Yes! One indicator is that hair is mentioned more than 80 times in the Bible.
Sister Keisha Acree’s publication, “Why Don’t You Cut Your Hair?” is a great resource and some points from that printing will be used within this sermon.
According to Leviticus chapter 13 the color of hair within a sore indicated clean versus unclean.
Leviticus 13:3–4 (KJV 1900)
And the priest shall look on the plague in the skin of the flesh: and when the hair in the plague is turned white, and the plague in sight be deeper than the skin of his flesh, it is a plague of leprosy: and the priest shall look on him, and pronounce him unclean. If the bright spot be white in the skin of his flesh, and in sight be not deeper than the skin, and the hair thereof be not turned white; then the priest shall shut up him that hath the plague seven days:
We see the establishment of importance of hair in this passage.
As we see in the biblical world the condition or appearance of the hair could communicate information such as health or sickness.
Long hair was admired as a sign beauty and health.
Song of Solomon 5:11
Song of Solomon 5:11 (KJV 1900)
His head is as the most fine gold,
His locks are bushy, and black as a raven.
We see that having your hair removed was considered disgraceful and could be seen as a result of divine judgement.
Isaiah 3:24 KJV 1900
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; And instead of a girdle a rent; And instead of well set hair baldness; And instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; And burning instead of beauty.
Isaiah 7:20 (KJV 1900)
In the same day shall the Lord shave with a rasor that is hired,
Namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria,
The head, and the hair of the feet:
And it shall also consume the beard.
Micah 1:16 KJV 1900
Make thee bald, and poll thee for thy delicate children; Enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; For they are gone into captivity from thee.
Tearing ones hair out was a sign of the acceptance of grief, pain and suffering.
Jeremiah 7:29 (KJV 1900)
Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the Lord hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.
Job 1:20 KJV 1900
Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,
God used the example of hair to detail the importance of human life and the value of you.
Matthew 10:29–30 KJV 1900
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
We have established that hair had a vast amount of importance in the Old Testament and in the Gospels. We have taken a look at a few of the examples.
Now let’s move to the topic of long hair for the ladies and is it still relevant in the day we live in.
Before going to far let’s look at one more example in Mathew.
John 12:3 KJV 1900
Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
What a loss of anointed importance if Mary had not of had long hair to dry the feet of Jesus. Can you imagine the lack of personal touch if we read “Mary wiped his feet with her rag” can you image this act of sacrifice being worded this way?
1 Corinthians 11:14–15 KJV 1900
Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
1 Timothy 2:9–10 KJV 1900
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
1 Peter 3:3 KJV 1900
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
