INTRO: I was reading in Isaiah the 9th Chapter and noticed Isaiah ripped 5 names for the the messiah was to come...

PLEASE STAND FOR THE READING OF GOD’S WORD
Isaiah 9:6–7 “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

10. The Son Of David
This was a big deal.
The Messiah had to be from King Davids lineage
every since the Old Testament days, The Jewish folks were looking for and waiting for “The Messiah to come.
Jeremiah 23:5 ““Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.”
2 Samuel 7:12–16 ““When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.”
The messiah had to be from the line of David.. Enter Joseph..
Matthew 1:1–17 “The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:
Matthew 1:16–17 “And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ. So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, from David until the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity in Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations.”
Matthew 12:23 “And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the Son of David?”
Matthew 21:9 “Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!”
The Apostle Paul even drove this point home
Romans 1:3 “concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,”
9. The Christ
Greek word Christos = “The anointed one, The Messiah
350x mentioned in the Bible
John 4:25–26 “The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”
John 20:30–31 “And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.”
Luke 9:20 “He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered and said, “The Christ of God.”
John gives a pretty blunt statement about those who deny Jesus is the Christ:
1 John 2:22–23 “Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.”
Jesus Christ never asks anyone to define his position or to understand a creed, but “Who am I to you?” Jesus Christ makes the whole of human destiny depend on a man’s relationship to himself.

8. The Word
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
7. Lord
Jesus title as Lord took on a whole other meaning after His resurrection...
Lord = “A Title that signifies Jesus Christ’s absolute authority.”
Revelation 19:16 “And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS”
Matthew 21:3 “And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
As part of our salvation experience, we must declare Jesus is Lord
Romans 10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
6. Lamb Of God
John 1:29 “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”

It would have reminded them of the lambs used in the daily sacrifices for the sin offerings (Lev. 14:12, 21, 24; Num. 6:12), and of the Messianic lamb led to the slaughter (Isa. 53:7). More than anything, Lamb of God would have recalled the Passover lamb (Exod. 12; John 19:36) and evoked the image of Israel’s deliverance from bondage.

In saying that Jesus was the “Lamb of God,” John was declaring that Jesus was the substitute sacrifice provided by God

Just like the blood of the passover lamb put above the doorposts saved the Israelites, the blood of Jesus Christ saves us all. But just like the Israelites we too have to apply the blood
Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
5. The Good Shepard
Jesus first refers to Himself as “the sheep Gate.” to get to Heaven ther’s no other entry point.
John 10:9 “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”
John 10:14–16 “I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.”
John: The Shepherd King Jesus Is the Good Shepherd (10:14–18)

Jesus stated that he was God-with-them. In a way that fulfilled yet surpassed an important aspect of Israel’s life—he was God’s true shepherd-king.

Under the Old Covenant God, the shepherd of his people (Psalm 80:1), led and cared for them by means of ‘shepherds’ like Abraham, Moses and Joshua (Numbers 27:15–19). In particular, however, God appointed a king, a man after his own ‘shepherd’s heart’, the young shepherd David (2 Samuel 5:1–4). God’s great concern was that his people would not be like ‘sheep without a shepherd’ (1 Kings 22:17).

John 10:15 “As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.”
4. The Way, The Truth & The Life
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
When Jesus said, “I am the Way,” He clearly intended to exclude all other ways, so beware lest you perish in any one of them!

3. Immanuel
Immanuel = “God with us.”
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”
Matthew 1:23 ““Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
6426 Jesus Christ had a twofold personality: he was the Son of God revealing what God is like and Son of Man revealing what man is to be like.

2. The Alpha & Omega
Revelation 1:8 ““I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
John 8:58 “Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
1.5- Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
2 songs come to my mind:
His Name is Wonderful His Name is Wonderful His Name is Wonderful Jesus My Lord He is the Mighty King Master of everything His Name is Wonderful Jesus My Lord
The Cathedrals:
If I had the words to say, what The Lord means to me, I’d say mmmmmwonderful to me..
The Son Of God
John 3:16–18 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
If John’s word isn't enough for you, check out what God Himself said:
Matthew 3:17 “And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
God lets every one who will listen know, that this is His son.
but in Luke's account, God speaks to His Son, and tells Him:
Luke 3:22 “And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
