Freedom from discouragement comes from surrendering to God’s will for your life.
This is because God’s will for your life is that you be known and loved by Him.
After speaking about the work God did for us by Christ’s death and resurrection, he says…
Romans 8:31 NIV
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
God is for us!
He’s working for us and working in us.
Romans 8:35 NIV
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
Remember…
God’s will for your life is that you be known and loved by Him.
Romans 8:37 NIV
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
God is working for us and in us to make us conquerors over these things.
Romans 8:38–39 NIV
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
So…
How is this possible?
The death of Jesus was our death.
The resurrection of Jesus is the preview to our resurrection.
The gospel message is that Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection is the gateway to our life, death, and resurrection.
When we surrender to Jesus and His gospel we gain access to God’s will for our lives.
God’s will for your life is that you be known and loved by Him.
Before surrendering to Jesus and His gospel you did not have access to God. You were separate from Him.
After surrendering to Jesus and His gospel you have access to God. A restored relationship of love that will not end in physical death. But continues when He resurrects you.
So, how does this free you from discouragement?
I said…
Freedom from discouragement comes from surrendering to God’s will for your life.
Surrendering to God’s will for your life means that you kill your will for your life and adopt God’s will for your life.
When God’s will for your life is your will for your life then you cannot be disappointed. Because God will have what he desires.
When you realize that everything that happens in your life cannot keep God from what he desires, and you desire that he get what he desires, nothing can stop you. Nothing can truly break you.
I encourage you to try this…
When discouragement hits you and you are down because things aren’t going your way…
Close your eyes… Take a deep breath… Say… God’s will for me is to know and love me… God will get what he desires.
