Antithesis (Measure Twice Cut Once)
One of the most amazing benefits of relationships whether it’s interpersonal relationships, work relationships, marital relationships and even ministry relationships, one of the benefits is Discovery. And that is when you discover certain details about a person that you otherwise would not know unless you have the privilege of sharing in some form relationship with them. When you discover such things as their likes, and preferences, their gifts and talents, where they grew up and what high school or college they went too and … that’s invaluable information because it will give you insight as to what they bring to the table or what you can expect from them or why they approach things the way they do.
And uhhh .. I stumbled upon discovery while i was studying the life of Jesus. I ummm….I noticed that both Jesus’s Heavenly father and his earthly father were carpenters.
I had overlooked this and hadn’t paid attention to this until i had to prepare for this sermon.
In Mathew 13:53-58
Jesus get’s rejected in his home town of Nazareth
and they began to reason amoungst themselves as to how it is that Jesus is able to perform the miracles that he’s performing , and how he has the wisdom and insight that he has with no formal training
and they discredit and despise him and refuse to acknowledge him as the Messiah but only as a carpenter because he’s the son of a carpenter
And I don’t know who this is for but let them underestimate you because 1 Samuel 16:7; says you don’t need man’s approval when you have god’s validation
So Jesus’ earthly father Joseph was a carpenter
But then his heavenly father was a carpenter of sorts
Genesis ch. 1 - 3 details how God the father exorcised his superior carpentry skills and built heaven and earth on the foundation of his word
Let me exploit the difference as humans when we want to build something we use raw materials
hammer , wood, nails, a back hoe and a crane
but when God want’s to build …..he uses the power of his word
Isaiah 55:11 It is the same with my word.
I send it out, and it always produces fruit.
It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
So when God decided to build heaven & earth … he sent out a word and what he spoke came to fruition
So if you are looking to build up your life… it would behoove you to get a word from the Lord
GOD give me a word for my finances, children , marriage
