How will people react to Jesus? He is doing miracles, casting out demons, forgiving sins, and claiming to be the Son of God?
There are three possible reactions: He is mad. He is bad. He is God.
His family thought him to be mad.
Perhaps because they thought that they had authority over him…
The scribes thought he was bad – in league with Satan, the accuser.
Perhaps, also, because they thought they had authority over him.
Similarly, the Accuser and the world say the same things about Jesus disciples. We are mad or we are bad but.’ no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.’1 Corinthians 12:3 (ESV)
And looking about at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.”
By faith we are the family of God
The accusations that we are out of our minds, or even that we are evil for doing the will of the Father will not dissuade us because Christ is risen from the dead and we are going to win .
