The apostles and Jesus need rest, but the needs of others press them as well. Having retreated for a while the crowd finds them, but Jesus will not cast them off because he has compassion on them, viewing them as sheep without a shepherd. Ps 23:1
When the Apostles returned from their mission trip, they were tired, so Jesus cares for them, leading them to rest. Ps 23:2.
When the people perceive where Jesus is going, they follow on foot. The crowd grew as it passed through villages on the way.
Jesus s would not scatter this flock. He taught them. Ps 23:3-4
When it grew late he also would feed them. The literal multiplication of fish and loaves ratifies the feeding he gives us by the word Ps 23:5
Do you think that Jesus will ignore or scatter this flock? Is He blind to your needs? Do you think his compassion is small or will run out?
He will also teach you, lead you through dark places, feed you a heavenly feast and attend you with mercy and goodness forever.
