2. We must welcome all who come to seek Jesus.

John 12:20–22 NIV
20 Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the festival. 21 They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.” 22 Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus.

A. The Pharisees complain that “the whole world” is going to follow Jesus in verse 19

B. When these gentiles approach the disciples to see Jesus, the disciples don’t know what to do. The insiders are not sure what to do with outsiders.

C. As Christians, we are not to be closed gates but open doors. We are not to make ourselves insiders and exclude outsiders. We are to welcome a lost and dying world and introduce them to Jesus.

3. Introducing others to Jesus will require sacrifice.

John 12:23–25 NIV
23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

A. Jesus’ ministry climaxes.

John 12:23 NIV
23 Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

I. This is the shift from a future event to the “hour” being immediate. The world is seeking him and that is why he came.

II. In John 10, there are other sheep not of his fold that he is calling to. Now they are responding.

B. As Christians, we must lay down our lives for the sake of the Cross.

John 12:24–25 NIV
24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. 25 Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
