Efesios 4:11–16 (RVR60)

11 Y él mismo constituyó a unos, apóstoles; a otros, profetas; a otros, evangelistas; a otros, pastores y maestros,

12 a fin de perfeccionar a los santos para la obra del ministerio, para la edificación del cuerpo de Cristo,

13 hasta que todos lleguemos a la unidad de la fe y del conocimiento del Hijo de Dios, a un varón perfecto, a la medida de la estatura de la plenitud de Cristo;

14 para que ya no seamos niños fluctuantes, llevados por doquiera de todo viento de doctrina, por estratagema de hombres que para engañar emplean con astucia las artimañas del error,

15 sino que siguiendo la verdad en amor, crezcamos en todo en aquel que es la cabeza, esto es, Cristo,

16 de quien todo el cuerpo, bien concertado y unido entre sí por todas las coyunturas que se ayudan mutuamente, según la actividad propia de cada miembro, recibe su crecimiento para ir edificándose en amor.

11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,

12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,

13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

Repaso | Review

-Uno de los factores más importantes que promueven nuestro crecimiento espiritual es la unidad.

-One of the most important factors that promote our spiritual growth is unity.

-La unidad en la iglesia no se busca, porque es algo que no depende de nosotros. La unidad en la iglesia se guarda, porque es un resultado de la obra del Espíritu Santo.

-Unity in the church is not sought, because it is something that does not depend on us. Unity in the church is maintained, because it is a result of the work of the Holy Spirit.

-Identificamos los siete factores de la unidad, y descubrimos que el resultado de la unidad es el crecimiento.

-We identified the seven factors of unity, and discovered that the result of unity is growth.

El crecimiento individual | Spiritual growth

-¿A qué se refiere la Biblia cuando nos habla del crecimiento?

-What does the Bible mean when it talks about growth?

-Lo que experimenta el crecimiento es nuestra vida espiritual. Crecimiento espiritual es permitir la acción del Espíritu Santo sobre nuestra vida, y la disminución de la influencia de nuestra naturaleza carnal.

-What experiences growth is our spiritual life. Spiritual growth is allowing the action of the Holy Spirit in our life, and the decrease of the influence of our carnal nature.

-Crecer espiritualmente se trata de actuar según la voluntad de Dios, anteponiéndola a la nuestra.

-Growing spiritually is about acting according to God's will, putting it before our own.

-Crecer espiritualmente es permitir el control del Espíritu Santo sobre nuestras decisiones y acciones.

-Growing spiritually is allowing the Holy Spirit to control our decisions and actions.

-De esta manera, el crecimiento de cada miembro de manera individual promueve el crecimiento de todo el cuerpo.

-In this way, the growth of each member individually promotes the growth of the whole body.

12 Ellos tienen la responsabilidad de preparar al pueblo de Dios para que lleve a cabo la obra de Dios y edifique la iglesia, es decir, el cuerpo de Cristo.

13 Ese proceso continuará hasta que todos alcancemos tal unidad en nuestra fe y conocimiento del Hijo de Dios que seamos maduros en el Señor, es decir, hasta que lleguemos a la plena y completa medida de Cristo.

12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

-¿Cuál es la medida que tenemos como modelo? La medida a la que debemos llegar en nuestro crecimiento es la plenitud de Cristo. Esta plenitud se refiere a Su carácter, (4.17-19).

-What is the measure that we have as a model? The measure that we must reach in our growth is the fullness of Christ. This fullness refers to His character, (4.17-19).

-¿Cuándo alcanzamos esta medida plena? Esta perfección se dará el día de Jesucristo.

-When do we reach this full measure? This perfection will be given on the day of Jesus Christ.

Filipenses 1:6 (NTV)

6 Y estoy seguro de que Dios, quien comenzó la buena obra en ustedes, la continuará hasta que quede completamente terminada el día que Cristo Jesús vuelva.

Philippians 1:6 (NLT)

6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

-El apóstol Juan también nos revela cuál es nuestra condición actual: “ahora somos hijos de Dios”. Somos hijos, pero no somos somos perfectos en la plenitud de nuestro carácter espiritual.

-The apostle John also reveals to us what our current condition is: “now we are children of God.” We are children, but we are not perfect in the fullness of our spiritual character.

1 Mirad cuál amor nos ha dado el Padre, para que seamos llamados hijos de Dios; por esto el mundo no nos conoce, porque no le conoció a él.

1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

-El día que Jesucristo se manifieste para recoger Su iglesia, ese día alcanzaremos la plenitud de nuestro crecimiento espiritual, llegaremos a “la plena y completa medida de Cristo”.

-The day that Jesus Christ appears to gather His church, that day we will reach the fullness of our spiritual growth, we will reach “the full and complete measure of Christ.”

-Por ahora nuestro carácter espiritual está mezclado con las debilidades, la duda, el desánimo, la imperfección de la carne, etc. Pero esperamos el día en el que “seremos tal como Jesús es”.

-For now our spiritual character is mixed with weaknesses, doubt, discouragement, the imperfection of the flesh, etc. But we await the day when “we will be just as Jesus is.”

La importancia de la permanencia | The importance of permanence

15 sino que siguiendo la verdad en amor, crezcamos en todo en aquel que es la cabeza, esto es, Cristo.

-Pablo nos dice que para crecer hay que estar unidos a Cristo: “crezcamos en todo en aquel que es la cabeza”.

-Paul tells us that to grow we must be united to Christ: “let us grow up in every way into him who is the head.”

-Esto nos habla de pertenencia y de permanencia en el cuerpo de Cristo.

-This speaks to us of belonging and permanence in the body of Christ.

Permanencia: Duración firme, constancia, perseverancia, estabilidad, inmutabilidad. Estancia en un lugar.

Permanence: Firm duration, constancy, perseverance, stability, immutability. Staying in one place.

-Al hablar de la importancia de la permanencia, Jesús usó la parábola de la “vid y las ramas”. En 16 versos, la palabra “permanecer” se menciona 11 veces.

-When speaking of the importance of permanence, Jesus used the parable of the “vine and the branches.” In 16 verses, the word “remain” is mentioned 11 times.

1 »Yo soy la vid verdadera, y mi Padre es el labrador…

4 Permanezcan en mí, y yo permaneceré en ustedes. Pues una rama no puede producir fruto si la cortan de la vid, y ustedes tampoco pueden ser fructíferos a menos que permanezcan en mí.

-Todo creyente que quiera crecer (fructificar), debe estar unido a Cristo y debe permanecer en El.

-Every believer who wants to grow (be fruitful) must be united to Christ and must remain in Him.

-Lo primero (estar unido) corresponde a la obra del Espíritu Santo, El es quien nos bautiza en el cuerpo de Cristo.

-The first (being united) corresponds to the work of the Holy Spirit, He is the one who baptizes us into the body of Christ.

-Lo segundo (permanecer) nos corresponde a nosotros mediante la práctica de nuestra fe y de nuestra fidelidad. Es por eso que todos debemos “llegar a la unidad de la fe y del conocimiento de Jesucristo”.

-The second (remain) corresponds to us through the practice of our faith and our fidelity. That is why we must all “come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of Jesus Christ.”

Cómo permanecer en Cristo | How to remain in Christ

-El capítulo 15 de Juan nos muestra la manera como permanecemos unidos a Cristo:

-Todas las enseñanzas para el creyente en el Nuevo Testamento, están acompañadas de consejos que tienen que ver con la demostración de un cambio en nuestra acciones; esto es, poner en práctica la palabra de Dios.

-All the teachings for the believer in the New Testament are accompanied by advice that has to do with demonstrating a change in our actions; that is, putting the word of God into practice.
