Jeremiah 37:20–21 ESV
Now hear, please, O my lord the king: let my humble plea come before you and do not send me back to the house of Jonathan the secretary, lest I die there.” So King Zedekiah gave orders, and they committed Jeremiah to the court of the guard. And a loaf of bread was given him daily from the bakers’ street, until all the bread of the city was gone. So Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.
Pray; especially for eyes to be open to this jail, and an atmosphere of deliverance over His people.
We left off with Jeremiah pleading to not be placed back into the prison of the accountant.
He was being punished for fulfilling His God-given assignment
Terror of being put back into the Prison of the accountant
Open-Air court instead as a punishment
this is a jail proper… awaiting prosecution
The person living with this in their life is confined and used as a target marked to be fired at.
Inside of the City there are spaces that are as Jails which serve as a holding cell while awaiting to be prosecuted
this is where the accountant and the open air court are similar… in both instances it is about
who you elevate your plea to and;
what plea you elevate is…
Intended to equip you with tools and thoroughly purge this type of confinement from your life.

The warfare we fight is premised on legal grounding and is fought in a heavenly court

The Open-Air Court

In our heavenly fight there are a few components we do not often spend time understanding
the court is one of those
Biblical language tells of
courts
judges
courts
witnesses
advocates
prosecutors
Psalm 82:1 ESV
God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:
Heavenly courtroom
Picture a courtroom in which all of these players are in the scene
There is one that is missing (the defendant)
It is not too far fetched an idea to believe there is a heavenly court room
Each side is pleading a case you the defendant must lift up your plea not just to the Lord but what is your plea?
God Sits in the divine council
Heavenly hosts contending for a side
God hears each side
one side is intent on accusing you and making you guilty
another side is hearing the case
God holds judgement
is a just God
Holy God
“…He will not violate His own law”
Renders decision based on His righteousness
We may not realize each side has a duty to do justice and even the law is twisted to appeal for a poor decision the spirits as well as the people involved will be held to an account.
Joban theodicy tells of such a court in which Satan ascends to the heavenly courtroom.
Job 2:3 “…He holds fast his integrity although your incited me against him to destroy him for no reason…”
this work continues to this day…
There is an open air court in which accusations are being leveled… the very things that are being spoken into the air are being prosecuted …
one of the dimensions of the open air court is that the person in this jail is subjected to continuous attacks many of these can lead to death.
When Jesus says murder looks like calling your brother racca (empty headed, inferior, or stupid)… the things being spoken becomes an accusation used in the heavenly court room
Remember we are fighting a war that has legal grounding… the only way we can win is if we remove any legal rights the enemy has… that mean all legal rights have been revoked.
Additionally, remember this is in the house of the Lord it is a Jail that is going to eventually run out of bread… These are churches of Judgement.

Your Day in Court

Your voice needs to be heard in the heavenly court room.
The work of the cross gave us direct access to that room… how can you stay silent when the enemy is accusing you.
The Lord is the Ultimate Judge and will bring ultimate judgement to all involved.
“Vindication is mine says the Lord
that means we must allow Him to enter into Judgement over and above what we want
Isaiah 3:14–15 ESV
The Lord will enter into judgment with the elders and princes of his people: “It is you who have devoured the vineyard, the spoil of the poor is in your houses. What do you mean by crushing my people, by grinding the face of the poor?” declares the Lord God of hosts.
c. He is the one who is able to see every injustice and will respond
3. Call upon the name of Jesus
a. our righteousness is as filthy rags before the Lord.
b. Jesus is our advocate According to the Gospel of John and the Holy Spirit will be our counsel
c. We are not alone in this fight… the Holy Spirit will give you just what to say and when to say it…
4. Change your prayers
a. Your prayers should sound like that of an advocate and not an accuser
b. Listen to how the Psalmist changes his prayers after meditating on how it appeared the wicked had God’s favorable answer;
Psalm 2:3–5 ESV
“Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying,
The Lord sees every injustice and will respond in His time… you do not know when their final judgement will appear but it is certain and will come if their is no repentance.
According to Ecclesiastes 5 everyone has someone appointed over them and above them is one of higher rank each one will be judged by how they carried what was entrusted to them.
