Introduction

The Concept
The Critical View
The Confirmative View

I. The Concept

Known as “Once Saved, Always Saved

II. The Critical View

God and man both are responsible for Salvation
Grace Saves, but Works are Required to Keep It

III. The Confirmative View

1. Salvation is by Grace through Faith, not by Works (Rom. 3:20-28)
a. Grace and Works are Antithetical (Rom. 11:6; Gal. 2:16)
b. If Salvation is Obtained or Retained by Works, then it is not by Grace
2. The Saved are Sealed by the Spirit which is the Earnest of our Inheritance (Eph. 1:13-14; 4:30)
3. Salvation is a Gift to be Received, not a Wage Earned (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 3:24)
a. God’s Gifts are without Repentance (Rom. 11:29)
b. Gifts cannot legally be taken back.
4. The Saved cannot be Plucked from the Hand of God (Joh. 10:27-30)
5. The Saved are Born into the Family of God. Their Fellowship can change, but their Relationship cannot. (Joh. 3:16-18; Luk. 15:11-24)
6. The Work of Salvation was Finished by Christ. (Joh. 19:30)
7. Salvation is Where you Stand, not What you Do. It’s a State not a Status. (Rom. 8:15-16)
8. Christians are ‘dead to the law’, ‘delivered from the law’, therefore, cannot be bound by the law. (Rom. 7:4-6)
9. Grace glorifies God, Works glorifies Men (Rom. 3:26-27)
10. The Righteousness of God exists outside the Law of God (Rom. 3:21-22)
