Introduction

Once again we center our attention on HE IS RISEN

and we are studying the Works in His Last 40 days walking the earth.

Jesus was on Earth for 40 days after his resurrection from the dead.

During this time, he taught and ministered to his disciples,
preparing them for his ascension into heaven

As disciples of Jesus today, we should explore

the Things He did
and seek to learn what there is to Learn.

We center on

2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

This being said we need to look at these Scriptures

Jesus is appearing on earth again
but things are definitely DIFFERENT

Jesus is:
Showing up,
unexpected,
appearing in locked rooms,
able to be touched and seen, even breathing on them

Well seeing is believing --- RIGHT?

Or is that what is important?

Do we have it right or did Jesus teach something else?

SEEING IS BELIEVING

The old adage “seeing is believing” originated with 17th century English clergyman Thomas Fuller.
His actual statement was, “Seeing is believing, but feeling is truth.

that seems a strange thing for a Pastor to say.

if you see something yourself,
you will believe it to exist or be true,
despite the fact that it is extremely unusual or unexpected:

the Platypus was the FALSE NEWS of my youth
I have seen pics ----- never seen one, even at a zoo

FYI SAN DIEGO ZOO APPARENTLY HAS TWO

Lets face it. WE WANT TO SEE IT

Seeing is Believing RIGHT?

Buying sight unseen is NO NO RIGHT

its like buying a car with out kicking the tires and opening the hood
[NEVER did understand what i was seeking to learn on either one]

We talked about remodeling our building
We talked about donating $$ for the project

But at a point or two you may not have believed it would really happen

maybe past experiences of hearing promises, but not physical proof of thing

BUT then you walked in and WALLAH
you see the result
and you believed.

It is the way WE IN THIS WORLD
are wired.

and in our scripture today we hear the story of DOUBTING THOMAS

John 20:24–25 (ESV)
24 Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”

Don’t you just want to judge THOMAS

How could He doubt Jesus????

Being like THOMAS

If we are honest with each other we can relate to THOMAS more than even Peter

Peter was BOLD in HIS Beliefs — and often was out going with his actions —

-many of us deal with that

BUT Thomas --
- he was honest in front of his friends,
but humble in the Presence of God.

The Scripture says that he wasn’t there
when Jesus came
and when his friends tell him
--- in private he is BOLD ---

I WON’T BELIEVE IT UNTIL I SEE IT AND FEEL IT

Seeing is believing, but feeling is truth

Well we know that THOMAS Believed and LIVED out his life for the Ministry of CHRIST

the reality is that we are LIKE THOMAS

We say things in small circles of friends
but change our tune when in the presence of the actual person

NOW imagine with me that the actual Person is JESUS

Let me give you a little TRUTH
JESUS IS ALWAYS WITH YOU

and
Jesus TELLS US THAT WE MUST BELIEVE WITH OUT SEEING
< WITH OUT FEELING

Believing but NOT Seeing

Let us take a moment and look at some thing that JESUS said

John 20:29 (ESV)
29 Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

We must believe in HIM with out seeing HIM

I love the reality of the WIND
i have felt it, seen the effects BUT i have never seen it

We were all blind at one point in our life,
but now we SEE.

It is this seeing that overrides the theology of the world
and brings us to the methodology of Christians

John 9:25 (ESV)
25 He answered, “Whether he is a sinner I do not know.
One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”

so you should of had an AH HA
moment

We all lived in the SEE IT BELIEVE IT, TOUCH IT KNOW IT of this world

But we have to BELIEVE without SEEING with out TOUCHING

We took that step
and that made ALL THE DIFFERENCE

For even when we saw that things of this world
we needed to take that step of FAITH

Do you see the look on Indiana FACE?
the Fear
to the relief

We come to the place where
FAITH OVERCOMES OUR FEAR
FAITH is the only thing we have to grab on to

Once we grab on an ACCEPT Jesus
we are gifted with the Holy Spirit and the EYES of our HEART are OPEN

We were blind to the Things of God, But now we see

Conclusion:

my dear friends

Mary believed in Jesus
Mary saw Jesus ---- Heard Jesus
yet there is a sense that she doubted

Peter and John believed
they walked and lived with Christ

John 20:21–23 (ESV)
21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”

Thomas believed and served with Jesus

Thomas was a man that we can all relate to
Thomas Died in serve to Christ --- it is projected that he died in INDIA killed with a spear
