Lexham Context Commentary: New Testament Our Final Victory (15:50–58)

Paul explains that a natural human body of flesh and blood cannot endure the glories of heaven, and therefore there is need for the great change. Paul describes the change as instantaneous and glorious, destroying death and securing eternal victory for those undergoing it. Paul finishes out the chapter by applying the teaching about the future resurrection to believers’ lives in the present.

Victory is Through Jesus Christ

Resurrection is Victorious not death=holding high in her left hand the key to all the cemeteries in Christendom.
T. De Witt Talmage,
It is a gift Given to us so we must be thankful=
Must come through Jesus-everything that
death is temporary-does not have the last word=

Response to Victory

500 Selected Sermons: Volume 14 The Queen of Festivals

It is spun out of hallelujahs

be steadfast=to be fixed in purpose of the faith-steadfast in the doctrines of the gospel, knowing it, holding tightly to it, be steadfast in character, not slipping backwards even as hard as this world and the devil will be pushing against you
2 Thessalonians 2:13–15 ESV
But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.
be immovable=firmly persistent not turned aside by others......being steadfast will be tried and tested so Paul writes and says be immovable -firmly persistent- Ephesians 6:10–14
Ephesians 6:10–14 ESV
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
always excelling in the Lord’s work=every Name bearer of Christ=”Christian” should be engaged in the work of the Lord= and this we should excel in=ALWAYS- and remember.....it it His work, it is the promotion of His Kingdom
Colossians 3:23–25 ESV
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.
Be Encouraged

He Will Not Waste Your Work

300 Illustrations for Preachers Driver’s License on the 960th Try

In 2010 a South Korean woman demonstrated that perseverance pays off. After 960 attempts, 69-year-old Cha Sa-soon passed all the tests and was awarded a driver’s license. South Korea requires both a written and driving test before a person can receive a license. Cha took the written test almost every day since April 2005. Once passing that requirement, Cha began to work on the driving portion. Although it took ten attempts, Cha finally achieved her goal. She plans to buy a used car so she can visit her son and daughter, and to help make her small business selling vegetables more profitable.

We are motivated by the Lord here-we don’t work for Victory or even towards VICTORY no Christian we work FROM VICTORY. When the word says that what we do in the Lord will not be wasted we should be truly motivated and excited and looking for opportunity. Through Christ we have gazed into eternity and have seen our promised a reward that will come with the resurrection on that day!!
I must stress the importance my friends of giving your all to God through and for Jesus...
