Do you ever feel like you should spend more time in prayer, but you don’t know what to say?
Do you run out of things to say after a few minutes?
What kind of relationship would you have with a person if you could never give them more than 5 minutes?
Most people think of prayer as asking for things, and repenting.
However, Jesus made us righteous! That means there’ s nothing between us and God. THAT MEANS, we can spend time with Him!
Romans 3 says we’re righteous by our faith in Jesus. If we’re righteous, we have total, unrestricted access to God and His throne.
What are you doing with that access?
Prayer is intentional time when you focus on nothing but God.
I no longer think of my prayer time as asking for things. I think of it kind of like taking a shower. I spend time with God and His presence transforms me.
The more focused, intentional time i spend with Him alone, the more I am transformed.
A lot of people say they are different person until they have their coffee. For me, it’s spending time with God. I become a different person. I refuse to go interact with people before I do it. Without my time with God I’m impatient, irritable, kind of mocky…
So, the goal is time with God, and being transformed. So, how?
First, set a timer. Don’t spend less than 30 minutes a day with God. Personally, i spend 2 hours a day in prayer and it is essential for me.
Your time with God is the time to renew your mind.
The devil accuses us literally day and night.d
our flesh always fights to make it about works.
We are good because of Him and without Him we are not good.
2. God dwells in our praise.
praise is not just singing. Express why you’re grateful. express the amazing things you know about Him.
It’s not enough to *assume* someone knows you love them. Tell them you love them and tell them why.
He first loved us. He
3. Forgive others.
this is a big part of the Lord’s prayer.
4. Tongues.
He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself. (1 Cor. 14:4)
If you don’t, you miss out on that.
5. Ask.
but even when you ask, include gratitude.
