Keys to the Kingdom
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus responded, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven.
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven.”
Then he gave the disciples orders to tell no one that he was the Messiah.
Keys
Exercising authority through
Prayer
Various kinds of prayer and ways to pray. Not just saying prayers…
Our prayer life or lack of prayer life or the effectiveness of our prayer life influences every area of our life.
How you pray
What you pray
How much you pray
When you pray
Power is available
The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].
The Amplified Bible. 1987. La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.
Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? He should sing praises.
Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.
Elijah was a human being as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the land.
Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land produced its fruit.
Cornelius’s prayers
There was a man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment.
He was a devout man and feared God along with his whole household. He did many charitable deeds for the Jewish people and always prayed to God.
About three in the afternoon he distinctly saw in a vision an angel of God who came in and said to him, “Cornelius.”
Staring at him in awe, he said, “What is it, Lord?” The angel told him, “Your prayers and your acts of charity have ascended as a memorial offering before God.
Now send men to Joppa and call for Simon, who is also named Peter.
He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.”
When the angel who spoke to him had gone, he called two of his household servants and a devout soldier, who was one of those who attended him.
When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
Then I saw the seven angels who stand in the presence of God; seven trumpets were given to them.
Another angel, with a golden incense burner, came and stood at the altar. He was given a large amount of incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar in front of the throne.
The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up in the presence of God from the angel’s hand.
The angel took the incense burner, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it to the earth; there were peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.
The prayers of the saints have an affect in heaven that releases earthy results.
The key must be used correctly to be effective
1. Must be in faith, not just whining to God about our problems. “Venting” is OK but if that is all you ever do it is not faith.
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.
But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind.
That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord,
being double-minded and unstable in all his ways.
Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Jesus replied to them, “Have faith in God.
Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.
Therefore I tell you, everything you pray and ask for—believe that you have received it and it will be yours.
2. According to His will, not if is is but because it is 1 John 5:14-15
This is the confidence we have before him: If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
And if we know that he hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked of him.

3. Righteous…your heart condition plays a crucial role in how effective you pray
Prayer opens heaven for His will to be done on Earth as it is in heaven
The Word
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit—which is the word of God.
For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
He sends his command throughout the earth; his word runs swiftly.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways.” This is the Lord’s declaration.
“For as heaven is higher than earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
For just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return there without saturating the earth and making it germinate and sprout, and providing seed to sow and food to eat,
so my word that comes from my mouth will not return to me empty, but it will accomplish what I please and will prosper in what I send it to do.”
The Word is Living
Sharp
Swift
Powerful
Accomplishes what it is sent to do
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.
All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.
In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name,
God Spoke and the worlds came into existence
His Word still works the same
We are creatures of speech
God’s Word in our mouth releases Heaven's agenda
His Word is a living key
When agree and speak God’s we are agreeing with and declaring God’s will.
That gives us authority to release His will in our lives. Like a legal argument. We have authority to stand upon His Word
