Hello Dwell, this is Kenneth.
[1 second pause]
Today is Thursday, November 7th. Thanks for joining us for today's Dwell Kids Daily!
[2 seconds of silence]
For the next few minutes, I invite you to join me as we look to our Great King by opening our hearts to hear from Him through the words of the Bible.

Silence
As we begin, let us remember that God calls His people, young and old, to be still and know that He is God. Let's take a few seconds to clear our minds, so that we can hear him better.
[5 seconds of silence]
Opening Prayer
(Thursday)
Father, when we spend time in your word and set our hearts on your teaching, we flourish like a lush tree planted by a stream of fresh water. Teach us today and nourish our souls.

Passage
Today our passage is Romans 1:16-17: (ESV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

Exhortation
What is the gospel? Have you ever heard the word “gospel”? Maybe you have heard that the word gospel means “good news.” But, what is this good news that the Bible talks so much about?
In our passage today, the Apostle Paul says that the gospel is, “the power of God for salvation.” Wow, the gospel is the means by which God is saving our broken world! What then could possibly be more important than the gospel?
But, again I ask, what is the Gospel - the Good News? Well, just before our passage, Paul says that the gospel is about Jesus - wait the gospel is about King Jesus. An everlasting King in the line of David. A King who is God’s own Son. A King who reigns with power according the Spirit of holiness. A death-defeating King, a life-bringing King. King Jesus, the Master.
The gospel is a royal announcement! It’s the good news about a Saving King. In the good news of King Jesus we find the power of God for salvation. Paul says that he is not ashamed of this good news, and why would he be? Is anything greater than Jesus’ saving kingship? No. Nothing is greater.
But if the gospel is the good news about Jesus the saving King, then how do we respond to this good news? Paul says that this incredible royal news about King Jesus is the power of God for salvation for everyone who has faith. It’s one thing to say that Jesus is a king, it’s quite another to live like Jesus is your King. When you pledge allegiance to a King, that means you are going to obey that king. That’s how you know that he is actually your king. Paul says that everyone who is made right with God by the saving King lives by faith. Faith is allegiance to King Jesus, it’s trusting in his goodness, it’s truly believing that he loves you, and it is actively obeying his good commands. Jesus is our saving King, therefore as citizens of his kingdom, we must live by faith.
Call to Action: Let’s take a moment to reflect on this amazingly good news that Jesus is the saving King of the world.
